Stuck on "Connect your Harmony device to your computer using USB cable".

[ Edited ]

Product: Harmony 300

After hours of searching and trying not to pull my hair out I give up.

At first I had no idea my computer even needed a silverlight update, and now it just won't get past the connect stage. I currently have my harmony remote plugged into the computer, and while the computer recognizes it as a harmony remote the silverlight application will not.

I can't understand the complete lack of support. From absolutely zero information in the package to nothing on this site that is slightly coherent.

I have tried this on multiple computers; used multiple browsers; disabled firewalls, antivirus's, etc. I have cleared cache, both browser and silverlight. It make no sense whatsover that this application should not work. I feel as if I could write my own BIOS and have better luck than working with this remote.

Why on earth would a web based application be standard and the only choice for using this product? Silverlight? Really?! Logitech, you do realize that you are selling peripherals right? This shouldn't take 4 years of computer science to figure out. Your consumer base likes PLUG N PLAY. By no means did I think I was getting myself into unsigned driver installation and that's how I feel, get it together.

It took me so long to take you guys as a serious alternative for electronics. The only reason I bought this remote was because of the success I have had with your web cams. I saw this product in the store and thought it was a neat idea to get out of having to manually enter codes for half functionality. Now I just wish I could turn my TV down without getting up every five seconds. I'm beyond dissapointed with this paperweight. Get off of the silverlight or atleast give us an alternative. Some help would be appreciated. Maybe leave a sticky up on all the pitfalls of this great product you have here called myharmony.com.

You just built up my hopes.

Beta installed, everything shut down and restarted, cleared cache, etc etc... All the suspense and still the same old garbage.

Anyways...

Running XP service pack 3 with silverlight 5.0 now and it lets me sign into myharmony but still doesnt connect device even though my computer finds it. It's ridiculous. Thank you for trying to help though. It's kinda funny that I literally installed beta software and a crappy IE extension as a solution for a commercial product. I still can't wrap my head around this.

Re: Stuck on "Connect your Harmony device to your computer using USB cable".

Have you tried different ports on your computer.

afte plugging in make sure you wait till the driver have installed

If it is a desktop try a port in the back

If you are using a Hub I would remove that as well.

Possibly you have a bad USB cable as well

Re: Stuck on "Connect your Harmony device to your computer using USB cable".

You can also try connecting after placing it in safe mode

Remove the batteries, and replace them while holding the Power button.  You should see all 4 of the 'My Devices' buttons blink 3 times continually to know you got it into Safe Mode.

Then try to connect

Re: Stuck on "Connect your Harmony device to your computer using USB cable".

Like I have said, my computer recognizes it as a harmony remote right away without hesitation, it's the silverlight garbage that won't recognize it (the "NEXT" button is shadowed out). I have tried multiple ports all of which work fine with other peripherals. I have done everything possible. Who would have thought a simple universal remote would be this complicated.

Safe mode tried and failed.

Let me add that the Logitech web site can detect it if I use the autodetect add-on my. It detects the remote plus my keyboard and mouse. There is no reason the silverlight app shouldn't be working

Hey man, I feel your pain... I have spent almost my entire day trying to get my Harmony 300i remote to work! It has been a big waste of time, and I have done all the things you have. Hopefully we can get some answers!

Re: Stuck on "Connect your Harmony device to your computer using USB cable".

I'm stuck here too. I've got a Harmony 600 and a Mac. I've updated Silverlight, found Firefox to be the browser that gets me the furthest... yet still stuck. If you've had any luck, please let me know. Right now my shiny new remote's pretty useless. I've sure wasted a lot of time.
