Windows 7 does not recognize Harmony 300 USB connection

I have tried and the "fixes" I could find, but the device manager of my Windows 7 system does not recognize the Harmony 300 remote.  It shows up as an uknown device and will not connect.  Very frustrated at this point, please help!!!

Re: Windows 7 does not recognize Harmony 300 USB connection

I second this.

On my current 64-bit 7 machine logitech.com was able to detect the device and the software installed correctly, but myharmony.com always fails to recognize it. The blue progress bar shows upon connection, then I get a message asking me to connect the remote (which I just connected) to my computer.

Tried different USB ports, Firefox3.6 & IE8, restarted after installation.

The H300 connected and synced just fine on my older 32-bit XP system.

Re: Windows 7 does not recognize Harmony 300 USB connection

Fixed Win7 issue,

Went into device manager and uninstalled its driver. Loaded myharmony.com, logged in and when Win7 tried to automatically update the driver for my H300 i cancelled the process.

The H300 then synced with myharmony.com OK.

Re: Windows 7 does not recognize Harmony 300 USB connection

The answer for me was ridiculously simple. In the battery compartment there is a paper tag telling you which way to put the batteries. The left side of this tag needs to be pulled out to enable a connection.

Re: Windows 7 does not recognize Harmony 300 USB connection

The issue (myharmony.com not recognizing the H300 under Win7x64) came back after I restarted my computer. At this point it's obvious there are severe problems with the drivers installed for that OS. I never had/have any problems setting up or syncing the device on my older WinXPx86 computer.

I'm not sure what jellyooo is talking about with the battery label, that should have nothing to do with the operation of the device (unless you accidentally blocked the connection interface for one of the AA batteries when inserting it).

Re: Windows 7 does not recognize Harmony 300 USB connection

I was having the same issue (I just bought the 300 remote and also have Windows 7).  I looked up the problem and came across this thread.  I tried most things and nothing worked.  Finally, in both a fit of rage and desperation I remembered the suggestion about removing the little battery direction label.  Much like the guy above me I didn't try it because I figured it had nothing to do with it.  But I removed it and lo and behold it works now.

I have no idea if it was just a concidence, but I really think it has something to do with it, mostly because the remote wouldn't recoginze on my Windows 7 machine or an older maching running XP before I removed the label.  So if anyone else is having this issue I suggest they try it.  I registered for an account here just to say that removing the battery direction label seemed to work for me as well, even though it really doesn't sound logical.  Maybe it is really blocking something.

Re: Windows 7 does not recognize Harmony 300 USB connection

Had same issue on my Win7x64 pc.

Found that by uninstalling the Unrecognized device in device manager, then while leaving the usb cable plugged into the remote, removing the batteries, waiting a few seconds then placing the batteries back in resulted in the drivers being installed successfully.

Re: Windows 7 does not recognize Harmony 300 USB connection

Weird! I pulled the tab on mine and then the myharmony.com program recognized it too, on both Windows 7 and XP. The documentation recomends removing the batteries for a few seconds and then reconnect, so what I think is happening is that taking out the batteries long enough to remove the tab is what does it - it might need longer than a few seconds to reset. Thanks a lot for sharing!

Re: Windows 7 does not recognize Harmony 300 USB connection

[ Edited ]

Try using Firefox to open myharmony.com, and running the install program in compat mode for XP SP2.  Mine went like a dream finally ... I'd spent 2hrs fiddling with all sorts of settings ... and I'm a techy.

The software is badly written by some lazy programmer.  Logitech should REWRITE the help sheet to use Firefox and things should take a more normal course. Forget myharmony.com with IE ...

I should add, I'm running Win7x64 with 16gb RAM

Re: Windows 7 does not recognize Harmony 300 USB connection

Hello.  I am having a very similar problem with a 650.  Anyone know why I cannot see it as a USB device.  No matter which way I plug it up the computer (Win7-64bit) it is not recognized.  Also I tried it on a computer with XP with the same result.

This was done with firewall and active security off.

Would appreciate any help you can offer.  Thanks.
