Same issue here. Can anyone from Logitech please explain why this remote gets stuck in safe mode for no apparent reason? Yes, holding the "2" button while removing and replacing the batteries fixed it, but for how long? I don't want to do the battery trick every few days. Is there a way to permanently fix this annoying issue??

I just got a brand new Harmony 200 remote. It is stuck in Safe Mode apparently. It gives 4 blinks then a pause, 4 blinks and a pause, rinse and repeat. I followed the steps of removing the batteries, holding the '2' button, replacing the batteries; no luck. Since it's new, there's nothing to resync with on the MyHarmony website. When I do try to sync, all I get is "We are having trouble communicating with your remote..." Is the remote a paper-weight now or is there something I can still do?

I had similar problem and could recover the remote from safe mode successfully through your 4 step procedure of holding the number 2 button and replacing the batteries. Thanks very much.

It is now Dec 2012 and it seems that logitech have learnt nothing, or care little about customer service. Their claimed 24/7 back up is BS.
I am currently trying to resolve a problem with my new 200 remote. The input button does not function. Therefore, I doomed to watch bloody "free to air" cricket and mindless cooking shows on my Sharp TV. I cannot watch the DVD player or download /record programmes.
So far, after several re-registrations {all of the above writer's frustration} and emails to a retailer I phoned the 1 880 #. The operator in the Philipines was courteous and after consulting colleques said that there appeared to be a glitch in their setup data.
'My issue will be " accelerated" and I will be emailed, she said, adding we close for the weekend so the reply (telling me what???) will not be sent until about Tuesday or Wednesday.
Gee, read a book I guess.
Merry Xmas Logitech

Hi. The same thing happened to me with my harmony 200, it went on "safe mode". But it worked after that I reboot it. But why did the "safe mode" switch on?

I am glad that fixed the issue.
Yes if your blinking buttons has a pause then starts blinking again (like described above) it is in safe mode. If it just continuously blink then you need to contact Support.

Thank you CatLogitech. I was so close to sending my Harmony 200 remote into orbit when I came across you solution. So far so good. For something that appears to be a common problem with this model you would have thought that Logitech would have designed a fix. I also put new batteries in mine and threw away the old ones, now obviously they weren't flat, but luckly I had some here and didn't need to waste time and pertol going to the store.
Once again thanks.
