Connection problems solved (Boom)

[ Edited ]

My Boom has been a nightmare to use wireless with Mysqueezebox.com for months.. Every kind of connection problem occurred... I've tried to change all settings (encryption, wlan settings, etc). Finally, just when I was thinking about giving it away as a gift for an enemy, I've tried to activate the QoS (quality of service: it gives priority to video and audio streams) option in my Zyxel router. Bingo! From that moment on, my Squeezebox works perfectly! Its stream is solid as a rock (even while my pc is downloading files) and it's a pleasure to use it for hours every day for the purpose I have bought it.

I hope this will help other users in trouble with connection stability.

Thanks for the tip ! Never even knew this existed. I assume you had to add a priority category for your Boom ?  How did you name it so it was recognized ? I would guess lowering the priority rating of equipment not used might also have a positive effect ?

The default settings have been enough: no need to do more adding new priority criteria (maybe I am lucky!).

...and please take note that my Boom, before, was faulty even when it was the only device (wired or wireless) connected!

Re: Connection problems solved (Boom)

Cool, I'll see what it does w my Netgear router. Looking at SBS info I get from 25-40% signal strength from 2nd floor to 1st and would like to explore additional units in the basement and outside. Thanks again.
