Custom radio apps not showing up

I'm running LMS 7.7.1 on a Mac with OS X 10.6.8. I have installed the Last.fm, Pandora, Rhapsody and Sound Effects apps, but none of them show up under My Apps. If I re-select them in the gallery, it gives me the option to uninstall them or change the settings, and otherwise acts like they are properly installed, but I cannot see them under My Apps. All of the apps requiring accounts have been properly set up. What's wrong with my configuration that I can't see the apps?

I am using a Classic player to connect to LMS (I'm eventually getting a Touch, but no one in my area has them in stock). It allows me, as does the LMS interface, to uninstall said apps, and when they are re-installed from the player, it will even launch the app ... but it disappears again as soon as I exit out.

I do not have any local media setup in this configuration, but I do have a huge iTunes library on the same Mac running LMS that is in the process of syncing up from the iCloud server. Is it possible it's just a network traffic issue? I do not intend, by the way, to use LMS or the player to access iTUnes, the library is too big, and I have plenty of other ways to acccess that content, I only want LMS for streaming content.

Re: Custom radio apps not showing up

Make sure your MySqueezeBox.com login is correct.  LMS > Settings > MySqueezeBox.com, make sure it does not give any "invalid" message on that page, your password will correctly (but stupidly) show as blank.

When you log into www.MySqueezeBox.com web UI then go to Players do you see your SB3 listed there?  Are you installing & configuring your Apps from this web interface?  It's a lot easier than doing so on the players themselves.

Two other points:

1.  There is really no library that is "too big" for LMS server.  Many have music libraries exceeding 100k tracks.  The only limitation is really how fast your computer is that is hosting LMS server.

2.  You do realize you do not need LMS server for most Apps, connecting your player directly to MySqueezeBox.com instead, no computer needed at all.

Re: Custom radio apps not showing up

The login is correct in LMS, and verifies in the Sysem Preferences widget. If you click on "App Gallery" from the server page, it goes to the correct account on MySqueezebox.com and show the apps there. However, they do do appear on the selection tree in LMS itself.

The player does not appear on MySqueezebox.com because it is linked to LMS, not the web service. This is necessary for third party control. You can't control a player directly, but you can control it via LMS by selecting your media in LMS and sending it to the player. LMS has no difficulty seeing the player. This is also why I'm not worried about the apps on the palyer itself, it's the fact they don't show on the server that is the issue.

I understand the iTunes library is not too big for LMS to handle, it's just that it's so big, I don't want to wait for LMS to scan it all. There are nearly 16,000 tracks in it. It's all on iMatch, and I already have a plethora of options to play iTunes, I don't need it on the Squeezebox too.

I'm thinking I may have to re-intall (another thread suggests this may be helpful). Can anyone tell me the procedure for a clean install on a Mac?

Re: Custom radio apps not showing up

The player should indeed show up on MySB.com as a registered player whether it is connected to LMS or MySB.com or nothing at all (even unplugged).  MySB will indicate whether that registered player is currently connected to MySB or not, but it should always be listed regardless.  If it isn't, that would explain your symptoms.

What do you mean by "third party control"?

Or, put another way, what do you mean by “player does not appear on MySB.com”?

  1. Player is listed as a registered player but shows as Disconnected, this is correct if player is connected to LMS.
  2. Player is not listed at all, this is incorrect, no matter where player is connected (or even turned on).

Re: Custom radio apps not showing up

MySB.com says I have no players, even though my player shows up just fine in LMS and can be controlled by it. I had assumed this was because the player was set to connect to LMS and not go directly to MySB. The player is ancient ... it's a Classic, and it still has the Slimserver logo on it. The idea was to install a Touch on this system, but no one has them in stock, and my distributor tells me they are backordered at the Logitech factory itself.

My third-party control should not be relevant to the issue, but if you must know, it's a Savant controller which provides an app to control everything in the house ... all the music, all the TVs, thermostats, lighting, everything. The Savant app links up with LMS to display everything LMS is doing and control the player itself. I'm a Savant dealer, and I have set his kind of thing up many, many times for clients, and this is the first time I've had an issue. If it turns out its just because I ws forced to use an old player, I'll just tell my client I'll upgrade it as soon as they are available. I was just covering all my bases, because I thought the player shouldn't matter ... it's just passing the audio from LMS to the Savant system anyway. My app is talkking to LMS, not the player. The player is just my audio device.

But it still seems to me that even if I had no player at all, LMS should see the apps installed on the account. But it does not.

Ah, ok, third party control could mean many things which is why I asked.  There are several third party control devices for SqueezeBox usage like iPhone, Android, iPad, etc... which all work fine via MySB.com.

Until you get your SB3 properly registered onto MySB.com you can expect symptoms like you are experiencing.  Whether this is entirely the issue with your setup I cannot say, but I'd bet it will clear it up.  I too use an older SD branded SB3, works fine.  :smileyhappy:

Either your SB3 is registered to another MySB account (this is my guess), which is a different MySB account than what you are using on LMS.  Or your SB3 is not registered at all on MySB.com.  One way or another you must get the SB3 and LMS both using the same MySB account.  Did you buy the SB3 used?

Hello DBHawthorne,

Would you be able to send my your mysqueezebox.com email address and the MAC address for your player? (always check the label on the player) I want to make sure a duplicate account was not made and your player is associated with the proper account.

Re: Custom radio apps not showing up

I'm starting to think I simply ran through the setup too fast and conncted the player to LMS without re-registering it to MySB. I've been using it for a store demo, and it's probably still on *my* account and not my client's. Thanks for the help, I'll let you know how it works out when I can get back there to fix the setup.

The proper account is ****, and the MAC of the player is 00:04:20:07:73:66 . I suspect you'll find it is still registered to **** . I don't suppose there is a way to change it remotely? I'm a bit embarrassed to have made such a simple error, and I'd just as well present it to my customer as "taken care of" than to have to schedule a service call.
