I've just taken delievery of my second SB Touch and having the same problems as the one it replaced.
At volumes above 70% the sound is terribly distorted - unplayable. This is on all files (Flac and MP3) and on radio too.
The signal strength is 80% plus so it's not that.
I'm using the Touch's line outs.
I get the same horrible distrotion on headphones connected to the back of the touch too.
Reading through stuff it looks like I should do a Xilink reset but have no idea of how to do this. I have done a factory reset but with no success.
Any help with this would be really gratefully recieved as i'm tearing what little hair I have left out.
Thanks in advance!!!

There is no Xilinx reset for the Touch, that I am aware of. Nor should you be getting distortion at higher volumes, in fact higher volumes are recomended on the Touch for *better* audio quality. Many set the volume to 100% and only use the amp for volume adjustment. So I'd suspect something else is causing the distortion. Mine is usually at around 90%.
Sure the files are good and correctly ripped? Replay gain being used (and maybe incorrectly)? What device are you outputing too? An amp or external DAC? Sure the DAC is configured correctly for that output & bitrate? Which Touch output are you using?

Now sorted. I was feeding it through a pre amp, but when i feed it straight into the amp it works fine.

shouldn't be a problem feeding a preamp. something odd going on with your preamp or a setting on your preamp. Are you sure you didn't plug the TOUCH into the PHONO inputs on the preamps. This could be a problem as the PHONO inputs are meant ONLY for a turntable. Use either CD or AUX for the TOUCH.
