Help with scanner exe error requesting a disk insert everytime the system re scans for file updates

Once the media system is open, and whether playing music via my squeezebox or not, the system runs a scan to look for updated files. This causes a pop up window to appear that cannot be canceled and sits in the middle of my desk top until I can abort the scan. How do I either adjust so the system never scans for these up dates or override some other way. The pop up states a " scanner exe error" and suggests a disk be inserted !! Very annoying

Running later version and on XP

Might be your anti-virus blocking the scanner.  Or, try running LMS server as an administrator.

Ok it can be soo that one of you playlist pionts to files on disk that no longer resides on that drive letter .

Maybe you had an usb drive hooked up and did some playlist and nowadays it's gone or moved

Re: Help with scanner exe error requesting a disk insert everytime the system re scans for file upda

I am having a similar problem with Windows 8. Never had this problem with XP or Vista. It seems that it starts scanning files without being activated because the existing music library is not being saved and is searching for it. Then the "pop-up" window appears asking for a disk to be inserted.

Once my music files were found I am able to play music and when scanning for new files the "pop-up" appears again and have to keep closing it (about 7 times until it goes away) and scanning continues. When scanning moves to playlists the"pop-up" appears again and must be closed again. Scan continues then everything works as normal until next scan is initiated.

It is very annoying indeed!

When viewing the Media Server Control Panel under 'Status" the following warning appears in bold red print  "You don't have privileges to install or start/stop the Logitech Media Server background service.  Please start the control panel from the Windows Start Menu, via the right click context menu, and click "Run as Administrator".

Any answers???
