I recently purchased a Yamaha Aventage RX-A810 receiver. One of the reasons I purchased it was because it'sa networked reciever that (in theory) has the ability to recognize DLNA/UPnP servers on the network.
I'm running LMS 7.7.1 - r33750 with the UPnP/DLNA plug-in (1.0) on a Windows XP box and the Aventage will not recognize it. The Yamaha recognizes my wife's VAIO laptop, and my NAS box, but is obstinately refusing to see the LMS server. Yamaha's documentation says "see your software documentation" and documentation for the UPnP/DLNA plug-in is a bit scarce.
I'm wondering if anybody else has had this issue or knows of any solutions? It's not a deal breaker, as I can just keep the Squeezebox receiever in the living room. I was hoping to have the receiver recognize LMS and move the Squeezebox elsewhere in the house, though.

I know older Yamaha's would only connect to WMP or PCConnect enabled (or those servers which could emulate PCConnect). Might want to verify with Yamaha that it can actually connect to *any* UPnP/DLNA server. I'll bet there is still some limitation as to what specific servers it will actually connect too.
Maybe run WMP just to see if your Yamaha can see it?
My PS3 sees my LMS server just fine.

I've been playing with it since I posted.
The situation gets wierder. If I use Yamaha's included remote and go through the on-screen menu on the TV, it doesn't show up. If I go through the Yamaha iOS control app, it does. In any event, it doesn't seem to be possible to sync the LMS playlist through the Yamaha with the Squeezebox receivers. When the Yamaha connects, it operates completely independently of the Squeezeboxes. In theory, I should be able to connect the Yamah to the stream but Yamaha doesn't appear to let the user edit the internet radio menu or add a stream URL. I may pester Yamaha about this since there is obviously an issue with something given the difference between the on-screen and iPod menus.
Yamaha's handling of FLAC is lacking, BTW, since the receiver cannot read FLAC tags.

Well, your Yamaha will always operate "independent" of your SqueezeBox players. DLNA players cannot Sync to SquuezeBox players, even if the DLNA device is connected to LMS and is playing from your music library. I'm guessing Yamaha still uses vTuner for their stream aggregator. Go to www.vTuner.com, create an account, there you can search and add URL's, add folders, rearrange Favorites, etc.. all from a web UI. This will all show up on your Yamaha's menu on your TV.
No networking AVR will even come close to the features, functions, customizability of a SqueezeBox. ![]()

I have a RXV871 and here's what I found:
When I run the update for the squeezebox server, my yamaha doesn't see it anymore.
I have to uninstall and reinstall and bang, it appears again. Does it every time. ( **bleep** cause I have to rescan the entire flac folder but hey, it then works great).
Hoping this help!
