Music scan terminated unexpectedly - Squeezeserver v7.5.1 on Netgear ReadyNAS Pro

I am getting the message, "Music scan terminated unexpectedly (Directory Scan)" with Squeezeserver 7.5.1 running on a Netgear ReadyNAS Pro. When I repeat the Re-Scan, it terminates on different directories.

I have tried clearing the database and re-installing Squeezeserver, but it made no difference.  Filesystem and Volume scans on the ReadyNAS do not show any errors.

Is this a known issue with v7.5.1?

I did not have this trouble with 7.5.0.

I had to upgrade to 7.5.1 in order to get Touch to stream 24/96 files correctly.  I recall getting a full scan after first installing Squeezeserver 7.5.1, but I may be mistaken about that since I almost always select music to hear by using the "Music Folder" feature.

Any help is appreciated.  Thanks.

Re: Music scan terminated unexpectedly - Squeezeserver v7.5.1 on Netgear ReadyNAS Pro

This is often caused by Antivirus programs, but I didn't think readynas units ran AV  (maybe the pro is different). If you have AV, make sure it excludes *.myi and *.myd files. Also, you might try turning it off and then running scan. If this solves it, you can then turn AV back on.

There are no AV programs running on the NAS.  Thanks anyway.

Re: Music scan terminated unexpectedly - Squeezeserver v7.5.1 on Netgear ReadyNAS Pro

Hi EarWhacks,

When you updated the Squeezebox Server on the ReadyNAS did you run the Squeezebox Server Cleanup Utility for ReadyNAS? Sometimes files are not overwritten during an update and this can cause the scanner to crash.

Re: Music scan terminated unexpectedly - Squeezeserver v7.5.1 on Netgear ReadyNAS Pro

Has there been any diagnosis of this problem? I posted recently and no one else replied, as below, as to similar problem.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my Squeezebox Duet for a couple of months. Have been in the process of embedding album art to the music files (Apple Lossless) on my Mac G4 running 10.4.11. Recently, I noticed that after a scan for recent/changed music, my Duet showed only some of the
music on my drive. I decided to clear the preferences and caches, as per the instructions, and to rescan the whole music collection.

Each time I try to do this, however, after hours the scan is "terminated unexpectedly". I am running the Squeezebox 7.5.1 software, R30836. Any suggestions as to what the problem may come from? I am not running any antivirus software on this computer or another Mac hooked up to the same router; my wife's PC, which runs Windows XP, does have Norton AV and I believe some McAfee AV from AOL, but it is just on that computer. All is same as when I installed Squeezebox, successfully I thought for many weeks, back in the Summer.

Thanks for any help!
Paul

Re: Music scan terminated unexpectedly - Squeezeserver v7.5.1 on Netgear ReadyNAS Pro

Paul,

I am not sure if our problems are related.  My troubles began with version 7.5.2.

Logitech has not resolved the problem, which would appear to require re-writing the scanner software.

You probably should start a support ticket with them if you haven't already.

Had the same issue, from my post...

After a lot more trial and error the problem seems to be mainly caused by corrupt album artwork and or folder.jpg.

Delete folder.jpg and re-tag with new artwork and hey presto.

In some cases I have also had to re-do the ReplayGain.

Re: Music scan terminated unexpectedly - Squeezeserver v7.5.1 on Netgear ReadyNAS Pro

I am having the same problem after upgrading to 7.5.1.  I tried to remove and reinstall squeezeserver and using clean squeezeserver  per the instruction, but with no luck.  Has this problem been resolved?
