MySqueezebox.com & Squeezebox Server

I have a Squeezebox Duet. I recently signed up for the new Spotify app (finally!) and downloaded the latest update onto the Squeezebox handheld and the latest version of the server software onto my PC. I was able to log in to my Spotify account fine. However when I try and play a track I get the messge:

"Problem: Unable to play file type for: spotify://track: **********).   The *** represents track number and it rotates through them.  However no track is played.   

Anyone know how this can be fixed.

The official Spotify App cannot be used with the older SB players (SB1/2/3, Duet, Boom) due to content/licensing restrictions, it only works with the newer SB players (Touch, Radio).  There is an unofficial plugin to utilize Spotify with the older players but with only basic functionality and basic features.  Go to http://forums.slimdevices.com and search on "Spotify" for details.

I agree with the reply, but Triode's (unofficial) plugin is at least as well-specified as the official one. In my opinion it is much more comprehensive (the context menus are excellent). The only drawback is that it works only on squeezebox server - your local one and not on mysqueezebox.com.

It also works on Boom, SB3 (classic), Duet etc.

Same thing happens on my Duet,but only if I try and play through mysqueezebox.com with my PC and squeezebox server off. It works fine if the server is on. Strange...

sqyeezeit, you refer to the older SB players but I get the same error message when trying to do this on the same computer I have the server application on. I use the new playsquezeebox app in parallell with the server app. The general features work fine but not the spotify feature.

I'd suggest you contact the Spotify Plugin author himself.

If you are trying to play Spotify using a software player, that may not work, I dunno.  Many services restrict playback on such software players.

I am getting this exact problem on a squeezebox radio. The software glitches with this logitech stuff just seem to be endless. I have a duet, boom and radio and reckon I've spent equal amounts of time trying to get them working as I have spent listening to music. As good as they are when working I would strongly advise against buying this kit unless you are a big fan of being frutrated.

I just installed v2.2.2 (Triode plugin) to enable my SB Duet to play files through Spotify (premium account).  Artwork and song listings are available on the handset but no music -- each effort to play a song is met by "unable to play file type."  The "self-test" of the plugin indicates SB Duet is failing to log into Spotify  -- unable to satisfy the username and password.  My PC is signed into Spotify using the same username and password, so I know the input is correct.  What is the problem?  Any help would be appreciated .

having the same problem...   i log on to the squeezebox.com and enter my username and pw, it asks what bitrate i want to use, but when i try to play from my local server it brings up the artwork and playlist, but the radio itself tells me that the username and pw are wrong.   squeezebox radio.   is this working for anyone?
