I am finding it impossible to import iTunes playlists at present. My system is a QNAP TS 659 Pro+ with iTunes in the /Qmultimedia/iTunes folder. I can import the "tunes" but not the playlists. This occurred after updating to the latest QNAP version of Squeezebox Server to 7.5.4R3 and updating the QNAP firmware to 3.4.4 Build 0718T but I have gone back to SqueezeBox 7.5.1 (which I am pretty sure worked before) and it is still happening. I have tried multiple varieties of inputs to the server fields from its barest of just the iTunes library location to specifying the media folder in the iTunes tab AND in basic settings. Nothing fixes it. Looking at the logs, it appears the importer is not resolving the address and each line for an entry in a playlist is like the first line below with 0 in the playlist:
[11-08-05 09:43:47.7957] Slim::Plugin::iTunes::Importer::handleCharElement (567) NOT pushing 28151 on to list, it's missing (or disabled).
[11-08-05 09:43:47.7970] Slim::Plugin::iTunes::Importer::handleEndElement (650) Got a playlist array of 0 items.
I have not changed the basic structure of my files although of course new files have been added from time to time. My current iTunes version is 10.4.0.80
Help please.

I generally upgrade when iTunes prompts me to. I cannot recall when I upgraded to 10.4.0.80 but I think it was recently.

IMHO you won't get any useful suggestions from this forum, although it's the only way Logitech are being informed of the "mess"....
Try following the bug information at the following link and see if anything similar works for you - :-

It appears that something's changed in the way SBS or iTunes 10.4 deals with pathnames....
Good luck !

Thanks very much for that. I have also logged a message on the QNAP forum after doing a bit more research. It appears that the file normalization that USED to work now doesn't. Rather than converting each filename to a local path on the NAS, it is using the path required by the laptop. Of course it cannot see any files. If I put the media folder path into the Basic Settings tab then it will scan my music folder and find all my music but then it goes to the iTunes import process and finds no music at all. This then leaves me with the tracks from the server scan but does not populate the playlists (or the iTunes tracks which APPEAR to have been populated but this was done by the server scan).
The solution at the end of the thread you have given me does not work for me since the iTunes import plugin now appears to ignore the entry in the server's iTunes tab for the iTunes Media Folder regardless of what is put in. I will follow this up with QNAP since they are maintaining the server version I am using.
Thanks again for your help.

Problem Solved:
As a legacy of past structures, my music files were in the "iTunes/music" folder rather than the "iTunes/iTunes Media/music" folder. Using iTunes, I consolidated the media under the one folder and all is now working with all files scanned and playlists populated. For anyone else reading this:
First specify the appropriate iTunes media folder in Edit/Preferences Advanced tab then consolidate the files by going to File/Library/Organize Library and then ticking the "Consolidate Files" box. Expect it to take some considerable time and it is best done on a machine with a network cable and not wireless as all the files go from the NAS to the iTunes computer and then back to the NAS.
Best of luck to you all.
