SbS 7.7.0 RC1 - initial experience

A few thoughts about the next version of SbS (LMS - logitech media server).

I installed SbS 7.7.0 RC1 on my "work" desktop (standard Win7(64)) to do a bit of testing on the release candidate. I installed on top of my 7.6.1 and retained preferences in the install. Music files are all on a USB connected HDD.  Install was smooth, no errors, all was OK, preferences, passwords, settings, etc. all retained.

Started SbS 7.7 and it Initially scanned my music library and had no issues.  Very fast, as it took 36 minutes in total to scan about 54,000 files (mixture of FLAC, mp3, and AAC, with most files containing embedded artwork).  Same scan took 1 hour and 10 minutes I recall under 7.6.1, and *several* hours under 7.5.x.

As a player at work, I'm feeding SqueezePlay 7.6 (beta)

WebGUI is very fast and snappy with menus, etc. (7.6 was faster than 7.5.4, and 7.5 seems even faster)

I've played my own music, spotify using Triode's 3rd party plugins, internet radio, podcasts (myapps), BBCiPlayer, and SiriusXM stations. All worked perfectly.

Haven't done anything with video, pictures, etc. yet. But with music my iniital experience is painless.

So DLNA is one of the new features in 7.7. Right?

Anything else that can be shared?

Here is the official RC1: http://downloads.slimdevices.com/LogitechMediaServer_v7.7.0_rc1/

But a lot of stuff has been found since, so you might also want to try the latest nightly version:

Re: SbS 7.7.0 RC1 - initial experience

I've installed this on y ReadyNAS NV+.  It installs OK, but I can't run SqueezeCenter.  Is it still at <host>:9000?

Thanks
