What exactly do you expect them to do with the problem?  There are three possible answers they could give you:

1.  Deal with it

2.  Don't use your system till that gets fixed

3.  Roll back to a previous version that worked for you

 

YES 7.6 has issues on many installs.

YES QA probably missed some things.

YES it is a shame anyone is having issues.

YES they will fix it.

YES Logitech is sorry this has happened.

YES it **bleep** for all involved (customers, developers, support personnel, Logitech sales, etc...)

 

I sympathise with you, I really do.  But let's deal with reality and common sense here.  The reality is you are having an issue with SBS 7.6 and until that issue is resolved your best solution is indeed to roll back SBS.

Sadly, we have to go with what will work especially if the customer wishes for a fast fix. We are not always able to test all these issues and reproduce them as we only work so many hours a day and most of this time is spent on calls doing support or answering emails.

 

I do appreciate your feedback and will try to find other solutions next time before suggesting a rollback, but if someone wants a very fast fix then we usually suggest to downgrade.

 

We also do not always hear back from our engineers in the amount of time some customers wish for us to get it.

 

Also if you wish to have a more detailed response to a issue here is a great template to go by even for user feedback.

 

1. The Squeezebox Model

2. Firmware version on player

3. Are you using Squeezebox Server?

4. Version of Squeezebox Server and operating system

5. A list of issues without comments.

Example:

-No album artwork

-can't connect to mysqueezebox.com

-player turns on and off on own when turned off to clock display

ETC.

 

6. Clean install results of Squeezebox Server

7. What else have you done to try and fix this issue yourself.

 

These are simple steps to make sure everyone knows what your issue is, what setup you have as well as what you have tried already.

 

Again I am sorry you felt my solution did not help and we do appreciate all user feedback as this forum is meant for user interaction and solutions.

1. The Squeezebox Model - Duet, but doesn't matter, as server website also displays this error.

2. Firmware version on player - 7.6.0 r9458

3. Are you using Squeezebox Server? - Yes

4. Version of Squeezebox Server and operating system - 7.6.0 and 7.6.1 r32935. Server 2008 R2.

5. A list of issues without comments.

- Empty Artist listing on server website and hence on Controller.

- Empty Album listing on server website and hence on Controller.

- Empty Genre listing on server website and hence on Controller.

- Empty New Music listing on server website and hence on Controller.

- Listing for years have years filled out, but each year is empty on server website and hence on Controller.

- Music Folder ok.

- Search finds nothing on server website and hence on Controller.

- Summary says 1833 albums with 22300 songs by 905 artists.

- This is on server website, to keep any potential hardware fault out of the troubleshooting.

6. Clean install results of Squeezebox Server

- Same.

7. What else have you done to try and fix this issue yourself.

- Tried both 7.6.0 and 7.6.1 r32935.

- Cleaned cache folder.

- Emptied library and rescanned.

Have you tried taking out the playlist section and leave it empty and clear library and rescan everything?

It won't let me. Whenever I empty the field in the control panel and click somewhere else, it defaults to c:\ and starts scanning from there if I click Apply or OK.

 

Edit: Tried it from the website, it allows me to have an empty playlist. Now everything works, didn't even have to rescan. Awesome. So; Control Panel, no, website, yes. Thanks!

For what it's worth I tried to free up some office space and  migrate away from an old PC yesterday that's running "freenas" and SB server 7,5,5. It streams excellently, sees all my music and I connect flawlessly from other windows 7 ND Linux  based PC's using the user friendly "fishbone" interface. Even the Smartphone connects.

 

Since building a "Media" PC on Windows 7, that sits in the living room, it would make complete sense to run the server on that. Oh what a mistake that was! It's a while since I ran SB server on a windows machine but ny experience was such that I abandoned the exercise after a couple of hours grief! All I can say is that release 7.6 is a total non starter and would appear to have been released far too early - A question for Logitech. - How on earth did this software pass through the testing stage? Do you adhere to any type of quality assurance (QA) at all and are you ISO certified? it's incredulous that this software could be released with so many problems / bugs. Yes I experience all the scanning issues and even recieved an error message telling me I'm running a proxy server - i'm not!

 

I did downgrade to 7.5.5 at one point but didn't spend much time on that - All I can say is that the experience of intalling SB Server ion windows especially is far from the straightforward exercise that the Installion used to be under XP - I don't expect to have to start fiddling around with the stem settings and I'm reasonably IT literate. I just have other things to do other than wasting time trying to fix PC Installation issues. :smileyvery-happy:

 

And what happened to the useful skins that Logitech used to provide? Just three choices now so I can only assume that the knowledgeable guys from "Slim Devices" are no longer around and Logotech simply don't have the experise.

 

Well, I'm back on the freenas server with 7.5.5 and that's where I'll remain until this mess gets sorted out if it ever does. I can only assume the the squeezbox communty is very p*ssed off.

 

And until the Interfaces are back (fishbone etc) I shall stay on 7.5.5 on Freenas as well so I didn't even try installing 7.6 on the Freenas box.

 

Sort it out Logitech!

I don't think Fishbone is coming back, it was removed on purpose.

SBS 7.6.1 running fine on my WinXP laptop, no issue.

I have the same problem on 7.6.0. I have cleared cache and the rescan all option is used in the library page. It finds all my music and lists the correct number of tracks at 27,000 +. However when i browse using Squeezeplay, Duet controller, radio or Boom, i only get 100 songs listed. I do not use the iTunes integration only the default. I have a picture of the page saved if required.

 

If i uninstall 7.6.0 and re-install 7.5.4 it is fine. 7.5.5 also had a problem so i never used it.

 

I have had this issue since using the beta night builds on 7.6, Seems to be only affecting versions with SQL Lite.

 

Forgot to add that i am using Windows Home Server.

Hello

 

I have sb duet (controler, receiver) and I have the same problem. I used procedure that was mentioned in earlier post, tab advanced, web remote control, leave playlist empty and click on save.

 

After that I got my music back in sb server and also on controler.
