Hi,
I just notice that starting from today, from the menu of all players, the 'search' and 'internet radio' restricted the result to specific country now. i.e. if I click 'Internet Radio', 'Music', 'Adult Contemp', 'Stations', all stations returned are only the ones in my country (China). That change also applies to 'World' under 'Internet Radio' from the main menu too: only 'China' appears under 'Asia' from the list.
I hear of that the radio directory service is provided by radiotime (now tunein radio) in Squeezebox player - I'm very upset if tunein make the change regarding their service policy to restrict the return results according to client's IP address.
I'm curious that is that also true for other squeezebox users around in other countries outside of China or just me.

No such problem here, I'm in the US and I see China stations (and any other country). Sure this isn't local blocking by China?

Hi,
Thanks for quick response. It's not the blocking since the Squeezebox search functions well unless the results is 'filterered' somehow, which I believe GFW (Great FireWall of China) don't have such capability to do that yet.
The stations saved in my 'Favoriates' is still there and listen-able; I also notice that all stations under 'Staff Picks' are still there too and listen-able so my assumption is that these stations are 'hard coded' in the firmware but browsing/searching radio stations from directory is interactivity with the provider - the TuneIn radio service which Squeezebox integrates in.
It's quite upset that TuneIn Radio company discriminates their clients by locations/countries and don't honor the pre-integrated services with Squeezebox player IF IT'S TRUE.

Might try emailing TuneIn, maybe it is a simple fix to an issue they are not even aware of.

Hi I also realized this today after beeing 3 weeks out of country, all stations saved in my squeezbox favorits giving me same buzz : This broadcast is not available in your country !
I am living in Shanghai so first thought was that our Big Brother put some extra effort to limit those transmissions.
But I also noticed that all stations saved to favorits at device directly are playing properly. Also my Podcasts are playing ok, so I think it is time to part with mysqueezbox and copy all direct station links from mysqueezbox to the dev ice . I am usinng Diskstation with Synology server so this job is relatively easy to do .
What is interesting any of Logitech internet radio products are not officially available in China Logitech sales network.

Hi,
I just find a simple way to get tunein think my SBS connections comes from a IP outside of China and here is how:
You must run a squeezebox server on your desktop PC and have an usable web proxy which is out of China IP addresses space. Then set it into squeezebox server settings from the web admin page (settings - advanced - network - proxy). This allow the server to connect tunein website and let it returns playlist and translate tunein OPML address correctly; There is nothing to do on the player side since player will levarage this work to server.
Thanks.

If you successfully get this running, you are essentially "tricking" TuneIn that your location is different than what it actually is. Example: Let's say you are located in China and you setup a Proxy in Japan. The Proxy is telling TuneIn (MySB.com) that you are located in Japan so then TuneIn is not blocking China streams.
Currently your connection is:
player > router > modem > ISP > China > WWW > MySqueezeBox.com > TuneIn
Using above example Proxy your connection is:
player > router > modem > ISP > China > Japan > WWW > MySqueezeBox.com > TuneIn
Abbreviated for simplicity, but you get the general idea. ![]()
