SBB = Boom? What type of encryption? WEP? WPA?
If WEP you might be running into the HEX issue. Though you shouldn't be using WEP anyway. ![]()
Will it connect if encryption is off?
Make sure there are no *spaces* in the passphrase, often there is a *space* between the last character and the arrow.
Use the Play button to remove any *spaces*.

So out of the blue, using the same network and router and encryption type and passphrase, your SB3 just stopped connecting to it? No changes? Nothing different?
Try rebooting the SB3, just unplug it for 30 seconds.

Also try rebooting your router as well for at least 1 minute by unplugging its power supply.

I have the same problem.
Squeezebox Boom connects via ethernet or via unencrypted wireless, but will not connect over WPA2. "Wireless encryption failure".
Everything else connects ok (Windows laptops, Android phone, iPad2).
Router is O2 Wireless Box 2 (Thomson TG585v7) and yes, I've rebooted it.
What can I do to fix this?

Update....
Strange. After trying everything, I tried one last thing. I deleted the WPA2 password and re-entered it. No change to the password at all (I double and triple and quadruple checked it when I entered it the first time). This time though, the Boom connected ok.

Heck,
now I have run into the same problem, wireless encryption failure.
SB3 won't connect. At the same time all other wireless equipment (running win, android, iOS) is working just fine.
And yes, I did a factory reset on SB3, re-entered the pwd several times, and played with the router (Logitech E2500) settings (encryption methods) as well. To no avail so far.
I have read through various forums searching for solution to this problem, and it seems to me this has got something to do with new routers. Their firmware, to be precise. There is something that makes them talk to other devices, but not with various kinds of squeezeboxes (stutter, at best). My problems also started when I replaced the router.
I finally got Squeezebox Boom on, when I put the router on WPA2/WPA mixed mode, but this didn't help the SB3.
Pitty, really. It's ethernet port failed about one year ago, and I was left with wireless only. Now if I don't find a solution I will have to thrash it...

Use either WPA OR WPA2 not mixed. Our players do not do well with that.
Also the encyrption keys for WEP need to be HEX.

"Our players do not do well with that"
Hi, is this a hardware thing or a software thing that might be addressed in future? Glad I found this thread!
