I'm trying to use my F710 for flying helicopters and jets in Battlefield 3 and I've been trying to assign throttle up/down to left thumbstick Y-axel but it always bugs out somehow. I've tried using both, directinput and xinput. Any ideas? ![]()

Hello Tuxii,
The throttle axis in BF3 is assigned to the Z axis for the joystick. Goto the key binding menu in BF3 for helo and Jet and look at the two top items, throttle up and down. Select them one at a time and delete their Trigger one and two settings. Save and exit. You can then go back and attempt to re-bind them to whatever will produce a Z axis key, likely the throttle control on your joy stick.
Good luck.

The problem is that BF3 recognizes only one Z axis which means that I cannot assign throttle down/up separately. When I try to assign throttle up to thumbstick UP I get Z axis. Then I try doing the same for throttle down holding thumbstick DOWN I get "this button is already in use". Only way I can play now is to use the "mode" button to get the directional controls to my thumbstick which isn't the optimal solution I think. I'm starting to think that the keymapping in this game is just plain horrible and that I should just wait for a proper patch to come.

I've had the same problem (kinda) with the F310, I used the
X settings as I didn't want an interface between the controller
and the game.
It's BF3 fault in that X settings don't work - Fix:
"Warning: This isn't exactly easy, but it works. "

BF3, some keys are apparently hard wired into the game, Q for one. I can't Melee
with my Logitech G500 (miss my G5) BF3 doesn't understand setpoint or the up scroll wheel.
I did create my own D profile for BF3 using the Keyboard inputs only for flying.
I had to use BF3's default setting for Throttle down (S) (WASD) and it works
but not well.
I don't use the Left thumbstick but you have axis properties and settings
you can use, don't use a mouse setting for any, as yours will not work in the game.
I used RMB for fire and just barely got out of the game.
Flying is rather hard in BF3 using the F310, Rumblepad2 and I guess the F710 as well.
Looking for a joystick too many cons out weigh the pros for any, other than one for
$100+ (U.S) too spendy for one game. So I use the Mobile AA and shoot down planes instead :}.
