Driving Force GT - center calibration drifts

The DFGT is my first force wheel. I think I have it setup right. Got the newest Logitech software, installed it, plugged in the wheel when it asked.

When I plug it in it spins to both locks and centers correctly. The in-game behavior is great for a few minutes, but the center point slowly moves left. So much so that after only 15 minutes it's about 30degrees off. Meaning the DFGT wheel is turned 30degrees left to keep the in-game wheel straight.

I tried disconnecting, uninstalling the Logi software, reinstalling and reconnecting. I know Profiler is running while I'm in the game. If I disconnect from the pc and plug it back in, it spins lock to lock and centers correctly again for a while.
Win7 Pro x64 pc.

Anyone else seen this? I saw the looong thread on the G27 but I don't think it can be the same problem since that uses an optical sensor.

Is there something I've missed or omitted? Or did I get a bum unit?

Thanks!

Re: Driving Force GT - center calibration drifts

I talked to Support who had me use the Clear Calibration tool, to make sure, but determined it was a hardware problem and I'll be exchanging it.

Re: Driving Force GT - center calibration drifts

driving force Gt does have an optical sensor, which can come loose from the gear shaft it sits on because of three shallow cuts in the optical wheel that make it crack and go loose. just happened to me and found fix online. easy enough to get to and if you carefully glue it to the shaft its fixed. don't use superglue as i did, it blocked up some of the slits in the wheel.... now need to find a replacement optical sensor wheel.
