[G940Mark]

Flight System G940 works well with all modern flight simulation software, but each game requires specific settings to work best.  These steps will help you get up and flying in Flight Simulator X quickly. While these instructions are for Flight Simulator X, they are almost identical for Flight Simulator: 2004 as well.  These instructions are also installed in athe file: Flight System G940 - Game setup guide.pdf, located in c:\program Files\Logitech\Gaming Software\

Microsoft Flight Simulator X Setup guide
These instructions apply to Microsoft Flight Simulator X, and Accelerator. Setup for older Flight Simulator
versions is similar.
Instructions for setting up G940 with Flight Simulator X and Flight Simulator X: Acceleration.
Start Flight Simulator. From the main menu:
1. Click “Settings”
2. Click “Controls”in the “other settings”section. The controls section will open
3. Click the “Control Axes”tab to access the area to assign G940 Axes to flight simulator controls
Assign the G940 controls to the control axes in Flight Simulator. Follow these steps to assign an axis:
1. Choose a controller from the controller type list. There are three parts to G940
a. Logitech G940 Joystick
b. Logitech G940 Throttle
c. Logitech G940 Pedals
2. Double click the axis you want to change. A box will open
3. Move the G940 control you want to assign. It will be detected and display in the box. Click “OK”
Some assignments made automatically by Flight Simulator must be deleted.
1. Click on the axis.
2. click “Delete Joystick Assignment”.

Important!! Delete any other axes assigned to each controller.

When finished with the axis assignments, click the “Calibration”tab. G940 is a precision controller. We
recommend setting the sensitivity higher, and reducing the null zone for each assigned axis, except the brakes. set the null zones for brakes at 20%, so they do not drag.

Click the “Forces”tab. Verify that “Enable Force Feedback”is checked.
When finished, Click “OK”to finish set up.
A Logitech Gaming Software profile is included for Microsoft Flight Simulator X. Many controls are
assigned there, and can be modified to your needs.

Basic controls, axes, buttons work per these instructions, however I'm having troubles with force feedback in FSX.

It randomly worked during a couple of game sessions, but I could not reproduce this and I don't yet see anything that was different when it worked. Nothing I've done so far helps.

All force feedback options are turned on in both Logitech Profiler and in FSX, and yet it does not work.

Do you have any suggestions on how to really enable it ?

I'm using 64-bit Profiler 5.08.146 on 64-bit Windows 7.

For the throttles, this setup only says to allow engine 1 and 2 to be on the throttles, what about engine 3 and 4 when flying a 747? anyway i can have engine 1&3 on throttle 1, and 2&4 on throttle 2? or 1&2 on t1, 3&4 on t2?

Oh and what about the trims, you say that you can only have the elevator trim working as an axis? what about alieron and rudder>

If you are going to set up for 4 engines, you need 1 and 4,paired(outers) then 2 and 3 paired(inners) on those axes, otherwise you are going to run into serious assymetrical thrust issues anyway.

As for the trims, I have used the top two righthand buttons on the stick, which in my view is where they always should have been at the outset.

But how do i pair the throttles? in FSX controls-> axis it only allows 1 assignment per axis.

Well, I haven't tried it myself and given the various insanities of the Logitech software and my own experiences, I am far more likely to go for a sailplane than a four engined aircraft to make life simpler. However, my own eceperiences of conflict upon conflict lead me to believe that you can run at least two functions per button/axis and probably many more :-)

I would try to set via FSX the first throttle axis for eng 1 and 3, the second for 2 and 4 just to give it a try and see what happens. I would be fascinated to know. 'Scuse me - am off to download that Aerosoft Discus...

Hi Magic,

Well if you have say throttle 1 already  bound to left throttle, then you try and bind throttle 3 to left throttle, it just wipes out the first bind. There is however a throttle axis that controls all throttles that ive bound to.

Whats aerosoft discus? and do you have any idea where i can find the SDK to change button colour for example? god the manual and documentation that came with this is horrible.

Had problems with the JS on Flight Simulator in Windows 7.

 The clear registry program did the trick. 

Symptom:  Flight Simulator hangs once and on reboot of program the joystick no longer works, is extremely sensitive, even with sensitivity turned to zero. 

Root Cause: somehow the Flight Simulator burp caused the joystick to lose all calibrations in the registry.. minihat and trim fine, main joystick jacked.

Fix:  download and run "Clear Calibration Utility"  (btw: not supported in Windows 7, but it worked) (btw again, hmmm, someone created a utility to clear the registry, could it be that Logitech either needs to hire more developers or properly allocated the ones they have??? Obviously this happens enough that someone created an in-elegant hack fix to solve Logitech's problems...  One word dev team - Pune)

Result:  Everything returns to normal, will need to recalibrate the HW

Description:
This is a small utility to get rid of all calibration data.  Read the Readme.txt for details.  This utility works with Windows® 98, Windows® 98se, Windows® Me, Windows® 2000, Windows® XP, and Windows Vista.

New Feature:  ClrCalib will clean potentially corrupt registry keys on Vista, resulting in separate pedals being correctly assigned to axis Y for accelerator, and Rz for brake (in games using DirectInput8 or later).

• Download Readme.txt & ClrCalib.exe (32-bit) or ClrCalib64.exe (64-bit).
• Read the readme.txt file.
• Launch ClrCalib.exe and following the on-screen instructions.

My problem really traced down to AC power cable disconnected. Joystick worked otherwise, which was confusing. Plugging in the power helped.

Settting the system up using the FSX-Gold screens as described by M. Starrett can be done. Many functions on airplanes are available in FSX and we did not find them in Logitech Gaming, which limits possibilities of using airplaines since these settings should be executed by the joysticks, i.e. G940! Settings of the G940 through LGS does not function correctly and the choice is too small.

Settings of the G940 made through FSX screens desappear without notice and only the computer keyboard functions are available then. No way to find the settings of the joystick and throttle back again. There is no way either to find out what may have been done wrong.

Rudder movements create funny plane reactions, not really aeronautical: the virrtual plane simply slides across the screen keeping its heading, but does not go into turns as rudders make real planes do. Logitech has not been able yet to tell if this is an FSX or a G940 issue!

This far the G940 has only been a source of trouble and it has caused long hours of trying to solve problems - no way.

I contacted the support department and hope they will find a solution for the problems we encountered.

The hardware of G940 seems OK, but the software needs improvement especially for beginners.

I do understand that other users are happy with it. We are not.
