G27 turning and feedback problem

Sorry for another g27 post but im trying to figure if I have a problem with f1 2010 or the wheel itself.

A couple of weeks ago I played the game just fine. The wheel was fine and everything seemed ok. I havn't changed any settings but when I tried to play today I had some strange issues.

Usually when I turn the wheel will want to get back to the default position, however now, when I break and turn into a corner suddenly eveything is loose. While it is like this I can turn with no resistance which just feels strange, then all of a sudden it will kick back in which makes it impossible to do anything. It also feels like somehow there is steering assist on which as far as im aware, the game doest have. (And as I said above, i haven't changed any settings since first setting up the wheel).

Another strange thing was that I went into gravel trap after the above happens the wheel went all the way left and stayed there. I put it back to the center and it will just rotate to all the way to the left. It will try and do this while going around a track with whatever direction it's currently in the mood for.

I don't know what has caused this but f1 2010 is the only game i've played with this wheel so it's the only one I can test against.

Anyone had something similar? :/

Thanks

(I'm going to need something to decipher this reCAPTCHA lol)

Re: G27 turning and feedback problem

Sounds like a bad encoding disc. You've read the other reports I presume?

Re: G27 turning and feedback problem

My son has a very similar problem with his G27 - the steering seems to lock randomly for a second or less usually.  Seems to happen about 2 or 3 time in every lap.

Animaster, your response was "Sounds like a bad encoding disc.".  Could you elaborate?  I tried Googling but didn't find anything related to F1 2010 and bad encoding disc.

Other information that might be helpful for solving this problem;

- He had this installed on his Macbook.  It ran OK, he experienced lag, which was frustrating.

- He just built a gaming computer with the following:

--- Gigabyte HD-7850 Graphics card,

---Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H motherboard,

---Asus PCE-N15 Wireless-N PCI-E Adapter.

---Windows 7 Ultimate O/S

This is the machine he is running F1 2010 on.  He no longer has the lag issue, however, he seems to have traded lag for the wheel "locking".

I've looked through many forums but this this the first post I've seen with a problem as close to his.

Any advice or help is greatly appreciated.

Re: G27 turning and feedback problem - SOLVED

[ Edited ]

UPDATE:

My son figured out the problem with his G27 with the new computer he just built.  He had the G27 wheel plugged into a USB 3.0 slot when he had all his problems with the wheel locking intermittently.  He moved to a USB 2.0 slot and the problem went away.
