Re: G27 wheel wont stay in allignment

after further investigation i've finally found the reason for this problem and a solution. If you know how to handle a screw driver, just remove the case . you can access the servo-motors, the right one (from the back) has a small sensor. (simply remove the black plastic cap CAREFULL) for better understand I'll attach two pix, just screw the marked ones on (btw, I've paid 500 Swissfranks for this device, and logitech is not capable to assemble this parts right, is this funny ??)

no more problems.

Re: G27 wheel wont stay in allignment

well apparently without my reciept i wont be returning this anytime soon. So I figure since I lost $300 on this POS I might as well pop it open and try your suggestion. I just wanted to verify, that the problem was the screws you are marking with arrows were loose? Thats it? Tighten the screws and the problem is solved?

Re: G27 wheel wont stay in allignment

update.

I went to exchange the wheel at best buy, where I was very thankful I had purchased a protection plan. The CS rep said many of the wheels had come back since they were sold with similar complaints involving the gearing. I told him I didnt want to have to go through returning another one and he gladly gave me my money back.

If Logitech reads this I want them to know that I am not sour about the problem and I hardly take it personally. I believe their equipment is typically solid, but I was glad I was able to return the wheel and will never invest in such an expensive perhipheral again, from your company or otherwise. I just don't feel comfortable with pooling so much money into an object again that could fail from such a simple problem.

Re: G27 wheel wont stay in allignment

I have the Logitech MOMO forcefeedback wheel.  And it suffered from the same problem except as it would go off alignment you could hear the gears grinding.  There was a simple fix for it but it did involve taking it apart.  I must say to see that every steering wheel Logitech makes suffers from this "grear slippage" amazes me.  One would think this would have been easily discovred in product testing, had there been any decent amout done.  My wheel worked perfectly for about a month, then one day, the gears started slipping and alignment was lost during games.  I was going to buy a G27 wheel, but to be honest I don't feel like having to take it apart and fix logitechs mistakes.  Once is enough for me.  But I will say that after taking the wheel apart and fixing it, it has performed wonderfully.  Now, if logitech could figure out how to fix it instead of making end users do it, all would be great.  I just don't think one should have to repair something, or worse, have to send it back a month after buying it.  This is obviously not an isolated incident, and logitech is MORE than aware of the issue.  They wanted me to RMA mine, but I just got it.  They were even going to pay for the shipping to them, but I had just got it.  I was having fun with it and I didn't really want to send it back.  So I found a website that told me how to fix it.  It didn't address the gear slippage in my case as it was due to the big main gear, floating on the shaft.  A thin plastic washer, which I fabricated myself, kept the gear down at the base  to make full contact with the motor.  It was simple to do.  But the website is: http://web.axelero.hu/mozso/momo_m.html

They have a lot of fixes for the MOMO wheel.  I feel even if I did RMA it, they would just send me another with the same problem that I am going to have to void my warranty to fix.  When will logitech realize that just paying for the shipping back and sending the same thing to the customer is not the answer.  QUALITY CONTROL is the answer.  Fix the darn thing.

Re: G27 wheel wont stay in allignment

Thanks - My wheel would not finish calibration - so took a chance with your fix and it worked. The circuit board at the end of the motor was just a little loose. Works as it should now.

Hello!

I bought my G27 yesterday and I  returned it in the store today.

It went broken with the same problems, written in the last posts.

Will Logitech Support Team tell us what exactly is going wrong with this wheel???

I will be thankful of some kind of answer.

Re: G27 wheel wont stay in allignment

Just another case of the end user having to repair something that logitech didn't build right to begin with.  The funny thing here is, that this is logitech's message board, and no one from logitech has said anything in response to any of this.  I can tell you, it'll be a cold day in hell that I buy another logitech wheel.  I am not going to fork out hundreds of dollars for something that I have to fix anyway.  LOGITECH, ARE YOU HEARING ANY OF THIS?  Respond please.  Give these users a reason to buy your product.
