Re: G940 firmware 1.42 is now available

I hope you don't think we are hounding you Charles, but could you let us know if the other axis (throttle & rotaries) will have the reversal issue resolved/reduced?

Many thanks

Re: G940 firmware 1.42 is now available

I can't comment as I don't have final authority on this product, but I have some ideas that I'm working on to propose. The idea I'm working with is more involved than the FW update we just got out, so it'll take a while to complete, BUT I think it's the best solution. At the minute, I'm still working on the proposal and I'm not the one to approve it, so just keep that in mind :smileytongue:

Thanks Charles for everything!  I know that some of us tend to be a little hard on you guys, but sometimes it feels necessary to get a point across.

I've posted links to this thread both in my game message boards, and also on my youtube video of the reversal bug.

In the meantime, please don't let this lose momentum.  I want to see this stick become GREAT.  I still think it's the best solution out there right now for most flight sim applications IF you can continue to correct this show stopping condition.

The stick is very precise now.  It has greatly improved my aim and flyability altogether, but now my Rudder control seems extremely 'sloppy' due to the hysteresis.  I know it hasn't changed but in comparison to the stick it's now pretty bad!

Keep up the good work!

This will let you change the color of your lights. I leave them off.

Re: G940 firmware 1.42 is now available

Hey.  I've got my new G940 wrapped under the tree right now.  I've been waiting nigh ten years for a high quality, hall effect, FFB, split-throttle/stick/rudder system, but was hesitant to commit due to the issues people have been having with the smoothing function.  I went for it anyway  (or rather got my bride to) on the theory that you at Logitech would be getting it fixed right about now.  Thanks for proving me right!

I cheated and played with it a bit before it got wrapped, it's a great product.  One question - I've tried setting up the throttle as a zone axis to engage emergency power when pushed through the detents but setting up a zone for the last 5% of movement to sent the key command.  It seems to still give me numeric outputs on the throttle axis which is a good thing, but the zone function doesn't seem to kick in.  Am I doing something wrong?  Or is this even possible?

Thanks!

Paul

[ Edited ]

I flew some missions in IL2 by now with the new firmware and I can say... smoooth criminal... :smileyvery-happy:   I can surprise my self waiting for the moments of woobling the stick back and forth to grab the desired trajectory but... it is gone... one single move and the plane is where I want it and I can observe it repeatedly. GREAT!

oh... and the lights are now red and orange  B)

I hope  the work in the firmare will not stop... even for the mere interes of haveing a better future product (G950 or something) and should not stop. we can test and feedback to you guys for free.

btw... IL2 has a new patch 4.10 and we can really use the split throttle... but the throttles travel differently one from another... they both start from 0% same time and they both reach 100% in the same time but along the way they "race a bit"... in their travel one goes in front of the other the the other catches back. you can see it in any dual throttle cockpit of the game.

thanks again and happy hollydays!!

Re: G940 firmware 1.42 is now available

It has now been more than a week since I applied the firmware patch, and I've had time to give it a good trial.

I fly in the WW1 Dogfight arena of Aces High II, and before this patch I was basically "Fokker fodder", unable to hold my own against the DR1 aces. Since the patch, however, there has been a radical improvement in my performance. I can now manoeuvre much more smoothly and accurately, turn more tightly without stalling, and maintain Energy more effectively. Even my gunnery has improved. In the past week I've won more battles than I've lost and have even had a couple of the top guys say "I hate it when I see your F2B coming."

I'm very, very happy with this update.

The only down side is that, as MasterTec has already mentioned, the jerkiness in the rudder control is now more obvious.

[I believe I have a useful suggestion for fixing that, which I'll describe in another post.]

Thank you once again, and Good Luck with your efforts to improve the other (potentiometer) axes.
