I hooked my Freedom 2.4 Cordless Joystick up today after not using it for a couple months, and installed the drivers, etc. I discovered that my computer CAN detect my joystick, but when I press a button on the joystick, I get no response on my computer and the green light on the receiver just continues to blink instead of going solid like I remember it use to.. I've checked the batteries, they are fully charged. The orange light on the joystick goes on when I press a button. I am guessing something may be wrong with the receiver? and for the most part, mean's the unit is dead?

Have you tried the receiver in a different USB port? Also have you tried pressing the connect button on the receiver then pressing any button on the joystick to reconnect it.

OK, I believe I have solved this issue. This happened to be as well, and I almost gave up after searching the internet for many hours to find a solution to no avail. The issue was very strange - everything seemed to be working, reciever was blinking green, joystick would go solid green showing connection etc, but nothing on the joystick would respond in calibration. Attempted every known fix, nothing worked.

The problem is rather strange - it has to do with the joystick "centering". It may seem illogical. and you may ask: "why does centering have anything to do with my joystick not responding at all?" . . . the answer: who knows why, but the solution is very simple and will save you alot of hassle. The following steps solved this problem for me.

To solve:

Step 1: Take out the batters from the joystick.

Step 2: Reinstall all drivers and relevant software

Step 3: Connect the USB reciever when prompted

Step 4: (Vital) Hold down buttons 7 and 8 simultaneously on the joystick

Step 5: While holding down buttons 7 and 8, insert batteries and notice the light on the joystick go from orange to green

Step 6: Test out joystick functionality in calibration - it should now work.

Note: You may need to also hold down the blinking green button on the USB reciever to assist the joystick in connecting again.
