Logitech G27 Clutch missing

Here is some of the chatlog from logitech support, they sent me a new G27 and same problem, therefore it is the profiler or the pc and im wondering how I Can fix it .Im not inclined to believe that both the microchips are broken.

 Response (Yul Amiel)19/06/2010 12.02 AM
Hi Jacob,

Thank you for your response. It seems that a micro gear of the clutch pedal is defective that is why the profiler has stopped recognizing the pedal. I believe that your device is defective and needs to replaced under warranty. If you are amendable to replace the device, please let me know.

Thank you.

Should you have anymore concerns, do not hesitate to email back or visit our website at www.logitech.com.

Hi Jacob,

Thank you for your response and I deeply apologize for so much delay of my response. The calibration also applies on the whole device not only for the steering wheel. Please check if the device was specified on the profile, then, get back to me with the result.

Thank you.

I have done all what you have said, same problem.

Perhaps you do not understand the problem, the device is not out of calibration the profile is saying I have no clutch pedal!

The picture is there, but the label isn't and it isn't functioning or being recognized on games now due to this.

On properties on game controllers it regonizes that the clutch is there and working just not on the profile, so I don't think this is a hardware error but a software error on the profile, I still don't understand how it works perfectly for a few weeks then just stops even when there is no major software updates etc.

Hello Jacob,

Thank you for your response and for trying out my previous suggestion.

First, make sure you are running DirectX 9.x or higher. DirectX 9.x can be downloaded from the Microsoft website as an End-User Runtime. If you are unsure about what version of DirectX you are using, please use the following procedures:

Finding DirectX Version for Windows 98/2000/ME/XP:

Click the start menu and select Run.
Type: dxdiag and then click Enter.
The DirectX version should be displayed on the front splash page
Finding DirectX Version for Windows Vista:

Click the Start Menu and in the "Live Search" box type: dxdiag and click Enter.
The DirectX version should be displayed on the front splash page.
All versions of Windows Vista come with at least DirectX 10.

To re-calibrate the device:

Unplug the device from your system and verify that the AC adapter is plugged into the unit (if included). AC adapters are required on all Force Feedback devices and are NOT required on Vibration Feedback devices. If the device is wireless, please change the batteries for a fresh set.
Re-plug the device back into the host device, making sure all inputs on the controller are in a nuetral (no buttons pressed, thumbsticks at their natural center point, etc.). If the device is force feedback, it may run through a hardware calibration routine at this point. Doing this will ensure the registry's calibration data is not corrupted and the device should find its natural "center" point again.
If the calibration issues persist:

Check the windows Game Controllers control panel.

You should be able to click on "Properties" within this window and see the behavior of the device as reported to the OS. If the inputs of the device appear to be centered here, you should verify the settings of your game to verify that the game itself is not causing the calibration issues. If the device appears to be off center in this panel, you should contact Logitech customer support for advanced assistance with your issue.

If the calibration issue persists, please download and run the Logitech WingMan Clear Calibration Utility (www.wingmanteam.com). The WingMan Clear Calibration Utility was developed by Logitech's WingMan software team to resolve calibration problems with Logitech digital gaming devices.

Should you have anymore concerns, do not hesitate to email back or visit our website at www.logitech.com.

Amiel

Hello,

The updated software makes no difference, I don't think its a pc compabality error for these reasons:
If I go to Control Panel->Set up Game controllers->properties of the g27 then it shows a dial with named clutch, the clutch is fully functioning there

This had been working perfectly for a few weeks, it just suddenly stopped working for no reason, there has been no major software changes etc

Therefore I don't understand how the properties will find the clutch, but the profiler wont (and the profiler seems to tell all my games it dosen't have one)

Even if I were to try it on another computer, it could work for a few weeks then have the same problem? I don't want to be wasting that much time on that.

Jacob

My Logitech software is no long regonizing the clutch pedal, it does not function in any game any more, after looking at the logitech profiler it dosent have the clutch on anymore, it says in the bottom left,
"Steering Wheel"
"Accelerator"
"Brake"

Thats it there, no clutch, when you put your mouse over the pedals blue lines for to the appropriate label except the clutch which dosent do anything.

I got this product less than a month ago, therefore it is under warrenty still and fairly new.

This is an autoresponse message. We have received your support request and will be responding soon.

Basicly, the clutch dosent appear regonized in the profiler it was before though, just stopped no software changes that I can remember. This make it so its not even playable in games where you can manually set what axis does what and where the profiler (should) have no influence.

Thanks

Jacob

Re: Logitech G27 Clutch missing

I am also seeing this problem with the G27 and Windows 7 x64.   The profile shows the picture of the clutch but no options are available for the clutch.  Only accelerator or brake can have any changes.    The clutch functions.  If you go into game devices under control panel clutch, brake and accelerator all function.   I completely reloaded my OS and still have this issue. It looks to be a software problem with the Logitech Gaming software.  This is very frustrating.    Please take a look into this logitech.

Re: Logitech G27 Clutch missing

At this moment, the clutch is not configured in LGS.  You can configure it within a game directly though as an analog axis though.

Re: Logitech G27 Clutch missing

Right so we are getting somewhere, so how are we supposed to use it? Because none of my games will let me uses it for braking, accelerators, clutch anything pedal/axis at all. Is there a way to manually make it a axis?

Isn't it a priority for it to be coded into the software?

Because I paid for a product like this, so I can use the clutch as a clutch on my games, since it was advertised as having a fully working one, not it works perhaps if you do this. Sorry if I seem angry, Im just not happy at being directed around a problem by the support team on email.

What game are you trying to play with the wheel?  A lot of games now have native wheel support and it is just a setting that you have to configure.

Re: Logitech G27 Clutch missing

I play rigs of rods, it supports almost every gaming wheel, you select what does what in the config->controls, you then choose what you are adding a button to, ie the clutch then choose joystick axis or joystick button . It wont read the clutch under either.

So I tried rfactor which came with the g27, and the clutch works. So software problem with rigs of rods I think, is there any other games with manual clutches on the pc to try to confirm this?
