Just picked up this wheel and I am loving it. The problem is that I like to sit back and keep the wheel in my lap, this causes the connector from the pedals to the wheel to come out at the worst possible times. I have tried to plug it in tighter but it falls out very easily. The connector has plastic pieces that look like they should connect all the way up against the wheel housing but whenever I get it as tight as I can (short of using a hammer) I still have a good 1/4 - 1/2 of an inch between the plastic "wings" and the wheel housing.
Is this normal, or do I need to return it?
Please Help!!!!

I just bought the wheel and no matter what I do or how I start the game-Need for Speed Pro Street for PC when i press any button on the wheel the menu starts rolling as if I'm pressing the brake pedal continually. I cannot set any controls. So if u can help me how to set it to work. I've tried the software I was given and the one from the website.Any suggestions?

mine was never a tight fit. Not sure of how much distance is involved but seems like the plastic tabes generally line up near the outer part of the housing, not the inner.
BTW - 1/2 inch is more than the depth of the entire connector pin portion of the plug - if it was 1/2 inch out it would not be connected. From when the pins start to make contact it should insert about 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch. If it works consistently then its plugged in enough.
I would suggest leaving about 3-4 inches of slack from the plug, then winding or tieing a loose knot around the screw post for the clamp, so it won't come loose while you are operating it on your lap.
Or use a long tiewrap to come around and sercure one side of the connector tab next to the shift lever
However if you want a really nice solutiuon check out the Fanatec wheel stand:

if the url doesn't make it search on Fanatec RennSport Wheel stand. The DFGT fits perfectly and is very solidly attached when the clamps are tightened. The stand is heavy duty. I just wrap the cords around the main post with some velcro, leaving some slack and it works great. I was using a TV tray table before and its improved my driving significantly
