Sorry if this is the wrong forum, figured I would ask the PS3 peeps first. I have two PS3 controllers, a bluetooth keyboard and bluetooth headset as well as the Harmony Adapter configured for the PS3 - the new PS3 Slim. When I power on the PS3 via the Harmony Adapter none of the other bluetooth devices will connect. But if I power on the PS3 with either of the PS3 controllers there are no issues with any of the bluetooth devices.

In my testing I have restored the PS3 to make sure I didn't setup devices in the wrong order. Tested using the Sony BD remote, which in that case everything works. I also have pulled the power on the Harmony adapter after the PS3 was powered on using it - when that happens everything connects without an issue. And when I return the power, anything connected stays connected but anything that wasn't connect will not.

I also tested against my original PS3 (fat) - I don't have it for much longer as I have sold it and it has none of these issues. So I am curious if others are having this problem so I can determine if it is the Harmony Adapter (which I think it is) or the new PS3 Slim.

Thanks

I am aswell stuck in this situation. I dought any of the parties involved will or can do anything against the problem. If it was a diliberate act of Sony to block third-party devices, then this was the last Sony device that I have bought.

I have this problem. Brand new PS3 slim purchased with the logitech adapter (which is now essentially a $100 peice of junk). The issue occurs wherever the adapter is positioned and continues wheter i power on the PS3 with the adapter or not. As soon as i use the adapter the ps3 controller ceases to function.

I too have the same issue with the PS3 Slim and the adapter.  Very disappointing because without this issue it is a very good product.

Thanks for all the replies, at least I have a feeling it's just not my Harmony Adapter. It looks like the PS3 slim is having issues with controller (which I hope also means general bluetooth) connectivity issues. Sony has posted on their blog site...

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/09/update-on-ps3-firmware-3-00/

"SCEA is aware of reports that PS3 owners are experiencing isolated issues with their PS3 system since installing the most recent system software update (v3.00). Rest assured that we are looking into the matter and will provide an update here as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience, as it’s our mission to deliver the best consumer experience on all PlayStation platforms."

I'm hoping that the Harmony Adapter falls into this issue and will be fixed with the next update. If not, I'm going to call Logitech and see what they say.

We can hope, but i dont think those issue has anything todo with bluetooth or any other hardware. Think its just software problems, users has problem see they trophies and sucha important things. :smileywink:

I have called logitech (in sweden), and they promised to get back to me as soon as there engineers has test the slim in there labs.

I post here as soon as I know anything on this.

This does seem to be a problem with the slim and not with the 3.0 firmware. I have tested the Harmony adaptor, Sony BT Remote, and various Sixaxis controllers and can reproduce the following problem:

When the Harmony BT adaptor is paired with a slim the sixaxis controllers will either fail right away and then be unable to reconnect or the sixaxis will fail as soon as the Harmony remote is used. The only way to get the sixaxis controllers to reconnect is to either reset the slim (and of course the sixaxis will almost immediately disconnect anyway) or I must use the Harmony remote to pair the Sony remote with the slim which clears the pairing of the Harmony adaptor. I have tested this with 40 and 80GB latest gen PS3s at both 2.8 and 3.0 firmware and the Harmony and sixaxis work flawlessly together. This problem only exists with the slim. I have escalated this past Harmony level 2 support and I'm waiting for a callback from a Product Manager. I'm sure this won't be too difficult for the engineers to resolve as the problem is so easy to reproduce.
