Driving Force GT with Gran Turismo 4

I have tried to use my driving force gt with gran turismo 5 and it works but with gran turismo 4 it only works on the options screen. At all other points in the game it just won't do anything. Is there a particular setting that i have to change on the wheel?

Re: Driving Force GT with Gran Turismo 4

Is this GT4 on the PS2 or GT4HD on the PS3?

Which USB port do you have the controller plugged in to? Maybe you could try plugging it into a different USB port (if on the PS2)

It is GT4 for PS2 but on my PS3. Will it not work on ps2 games?

Try assigning your PS3 controller to controller port 2, then start up the GT4 game.

That doesn't work because the controller turns itself off when I load up a PS2 game so when I turn it back on the game has loaded and it automatically assigns itself to player 1 so the wheel is always in player 2 when the game starts.

Re: Driving Force GT with Gran Turismo 4

I am having this same problem.  Gran Turismo 4, on the ps3, does not seem to recognize the driving force GT controller.  I have assigned my regular controller to 'controller 2' but as soon as I start GT 4, the 'horn light' on Driving Force GT blinks, as if it's waiting for me to press the 'PS' button.  But pressing it does nothing, and the game never recognizes it.

I'm at my wits' end with this thing.  I was looking forward to re-playing GT 4 with this controller; having used it I never want to go back to the regular controller for driving.

But if I can't play GT 4... until GT 5 comes out (anyone?  anyone?  Bueller?) this was supposed to tide me over.  Need help!  Everyone says it's compatible, but I wonder if they're talking about it plugged into a ps2, not a ps3.

Re: Driving Force GT with Gran Turismo 4

We don't directly support wheels on PS2 games played on PS3, because the cross-platform USB HID controllers on PS3 can get a little funky. What might be happening is the PS2 emulator is trying to recognize the USB wheel as a controller, and GT4 doesn't support those kinds of controllers.

You might want to look at GRID on the PS3. That's a competent race game (DIRT is fun too).

DOH!  But... but... there's too many great cars on GT4.

How about this: can you confirm that the Driving Force GT will work on a ps2?

If so I will go buy a ps2 just for GT4 (I'll be getting Grid and Dirt 2 of course, also).

It will work on a PS2, but the horn button, PS button, and realtime adjustments wont work.

Re: Driving Force GT with Gran Turismo 4

I have the same concerns as the posts above. I only own a Playstation 2 console with Gran Turismo 4.

In the options menu, it seems the Driving Force Pro and GT Force (old Driving Force) are compatible with GT4.

However there are no options and settings for the newer Driving Force GT as it was mainly designed for the new

PS3 GT5p games.

I am very interested in buying the Driving Force GT but want to make sure buttons such as rear view, change view,

handbrake, reverse gear on the standard PS2 controller will function properly on the GT (as well as the 900 degree

steering wheel and brake/gas pedals of course) and adjustable force feedback.

Can someone clarify if this steering wheel will fully work on a standard PS2 console/GT4 game? I understand that

the horn buttons and real time adjustments dont exist in PS2 but I don't use them anyway.

Thanks.
