Can a Presenter R400 be used as a mouse, or must one have a mouse as well?

The documentation on the web doesn't discuss this,but the product is listed under mouses.

R800/R400 2.4GHz presenters cannot be used as a mouse. You must have a mouse to navigate the OS.

so this means we cannot even use this with powerpoint if we have used the on click animation?
