Presenter (READ ONLY ARCHIVE)

I just purchased the Logitech 2.4 GHz Cordless Presenter and everything works fine, except for th elaser pointer. There is no mention of the laser pointer in the very sparse directions, except for the location of the button. Shouldn't the pointer just work when the button is pressed? I've tried it with the pointer turned on and off, with a presentation running and without a presentation. I've also replaced the batteries with another new set. Any ideas before I send this back for a replacement.
