ClearChat Comfort USB Headset - Issues

Hi,
I recently bought ClearChat Comfort USB Headset and i am using it with Vista. The headset works when connected for first time but (1) I cannot see the USB icon in my system tray when it is connected. (2)When i disconnect the headset from the computer it mutes the system completely and neither the headphone nor the system speakers works, I need to restart the computer to get even the system speaker to work.
Effectively once i connect these headphones, i need to restart PC to get the PC speakers to work again.
Can somebody help me out?

Re: ClearChat Comfort USB Headset - Issues

Hi prab,
I do not see this behavior. I just plugged in the headset, set it up in Sounds/Playback and recording. Set it as default, then unplugged it. The system defaulted back to my speakers. I suggested you update your OS for the latest USB drivers.

Re: ClearChat Comfort USB Headset - Issues

[ Edited ]
I recently purchased this today, I plugged it into my system while booting into Vista x64 I heard the start up of vista but shortly after that I show a Red dot with a white X over the sound icon in the task bar. I have yet to be able to get this headset to work under vista. It works well under OS X leopard and XP but no vista. I have checked all the latest updates from Microsoft update and there are none. I have also plugged it into all 6 of my USB 2.0 ports and both of my USB 1.1 ports with no luck on audio. I can click the audio tab but not settings do anything noticeable. When I click record it freezes the utility and doesn't like to close.

Worst part is this is my 2nd set, the first set I returned today and got a second before the store closed. Any suggestions besides making sure to update my OS?

Re: ClearChat Comfort USB Headset - Issues

Hi mid,
The issue is with Vista 64 bit. Microsoft has to provide the proper drivers. You might look at the XP 64 bit USB drivers and see if they port over. They do for 32 bit XP and Vista.

Re: ClearChat Comfort USB Headset - Issues

Since Vista is the one who provides drivers for it, the ones they provide do not work. I still can not get this to work. Please explain how to get this to work. I started doing searches online and found NOBODY to say they got it working with Vista x64

Re: ClearChat Comfort USB Headset - Issues

not sure if you saw the post here

http://forums.logitech.com/logitech/board/message?board.id=headsets_general&message.id=2298

but there is a hotfix for windows vista. I also returned my first headset thinking something was wrong as the sound quality was horrible at best and was told that the mic transmit was worse.

Re: ClearChat Comfort USB Headset - Issues

I did not see that, but I am glad to see that now. This should be posted on the page with drivers for vista saying to make sure to apply this hot fix. Unluck for logitech they lost my business as i bought someone else's product that doesn't have issues with vista.

Re: ClearChat Comfort USB Headset - Issues

Hi All,
If this post had been in the proper forum you would have seen that there is a sticky post about this issue there. ClearChat does not mean Quick Call USB Speakerphone.

Well if your support link went to the right for forum then maybe we wouldn't have that problem. Stop being an **bleep**. Your just tech support, if we the customer didn't buy this crap product there wouldn't be a need for you.
