[ Edited ]

I have a Quickcall working under Linux.  It's actually a standard USB audio class device that just needs a little tweak during initialization.

Note from Mike:

This is not a Quick Call USB Speakerphone.

Re: Cordless Internet Handset in Linux

Mike, I wonder if you could post a guide to getting this working please? Ubuntu 8.10 knows that the USB speakers and mic are connected as it shows them disabled in the list. There isn't an installation program for the quickcall in Linux so I imagine that these tweaks are something you do afterwards?

Thanks

Re: Cordless Internet Handset in Linux

Hi Stew,

Please start a new thread as I am confused now as to what product anyone has. If it is the QuickCall USB Speakerphone, the support is only for Windows XP. If it is the Internet Handset, the support is only for Windows XP.

Re: Cordless Internet Handset in Linux

No, it really is a Logitech Quickcall USB Speakerphone.  It may only be officially supported under Windows, but I have it working under Linux nonetheless.  Basically the device just needs a special vendor-specific initialization command, then it acts as a standard USB Audio Class device for which the existing Linux drivers work.

Stewart, my Linux support isn't (yet) neatly "packaged".  I can get it working either by running a little initialization program (using libusb), or with a kernel patch.  Both approaches are a little clunky as yet.  Note also that this will get audio working, but not the buttons and LEDs on the device.  I know how to read the buttons and program the LEDs, but I haven't yet written a program to actually do anything interesting with them.

I really should make up a web page with info on getting this working for Linux, but I just haven't had time yet. I just whipped up a placeholder page for now at http://ozlabs.org/~dgibson/home/quickcall.html.  Contact me directly if you want more information now (address is on that page).
