I'm relatively new to the Harmony, and just setup Favorite Channels for the first time.

The UI says "for Device" and I added a few for the TiVo device.

I didn't add any for the TV.

Now when I select "Watch TV" activity, I get a new "Favorite Channels" in the 1st position.

That's all good.

However, I don't quite understand why it doesn't show up for my other activity that uses TiVo.

I get a blank square in the first position instead.  :-(

And for my "TV Only" activity, (no TiVo) I also get a blank square in the 1st position.

Huh?

A few of my Activities:

Watch TV: TiVo --- A/V Rx --- TV   (typical mode)

TV Lite : TiVo --- TV   (no Surround Sound for when somebody is sleeping in the house)

TV Only : TV            (gives us a 3rd tuner when TiVo is busy recording)

After adding Favorite Channels, I get:

Watch TV: Favorite Channels in the 1st LCD quadrant as expected

TV Lite : Blank in the 1st LCD quadrant ???

TV Only : Blank in the 1st LCD quadrant ???

That's can't be right?!

I would expect to get:

Watch TV: Favorite Channels in the 1st LCD quadrant

TV Lite : Favorite Channels in the 1st LCD quadrant

TV Only : No change to LCD

Am I doing something wrong, or is the Favorite Channels feature borked?

Favorite channels have to be created separately for each Activity, they aren't transferred between activities

I'd be fine with that, if I could figure out how to do it.

I'm using the myharmony.com Web plug-in version for my 650.

Favorites tab has "Favorite channels for device:"

and a drop-down menu w/ 2 choices: TiVo and TV

So how do I create Favorite Channels for my "TV Lite" activity?

And how do I remove the empty square for my "TV Only" activity?

What devices are in your TV Lite activity?

Here are the devices in my Activities:

Watch TV: TiVo --- A/V Rx --- TV   (typical mode)

Watch a Movie: BluRay --- A/V Rx --- TV

So when I added "Fav Chans" to the TiVo device,

I expected that option to show up under all activities which include the TiVo device.  

Specifically:

   Watch TV

and

   TV Lite

but no.

It only shows up under Watch TV,

and adds the useless / empty LCD panel for TV Lite and TV Only.

And I just noticed this morning, it also adds the emtpy square to Watch A Movie.

Why would adding Favorite Channels to the TiVo device have any impact to the Watch a Movie activity?

This has gotta' be a bug.

Does anybody else use Favorite Channels?

You have to create Favorite Channels for each Activity that the Tivo is in.  They do not carry over from one activity to another.  Also I might add there has been a bug in the MyHarmony setup for accounts that have added Favorite Channels.  I would recommend that you download the stand alone 7.7 software from Logitech, create a new account, and program your remote useing that setup, alot  less problems.  I only use MyHarmony for those remotes that can only use MyHarmony such as the 200, 300, and the Link.  All other Harmony remotes are able to use the 7.7 software.  You can download the software here.

Heh, I just noticed the blank LCD quadrant showed up for all of my 13 activities.

Unfortunately, it seems the MyHarmony.com interface does not appear to give me the ability to add Favorite Channels to each Activity.  Interestingly, when I go to the "Buttons / Change Your Screen Options" interface, I do see "Fav Chan" under my "Watch TV" activity, but not under any other activity.  So it seems FavChan is hard-coded to only show up under Watch TV, and instead of showing up under other appropriate (i.e. TiVo related) activities, it decides to mess up ALL other activities. (using the Web interface)

I will try the desktop 7.7 version, but I am not looking forward to starting over and re-doing all of the buttons that I customized.

Luckily, I created a spreadsheet of all my activities with corresponding devices and inputs,

since I had to re-create that several times already from scratch, since Logitech does not let us change the order of activities.

Strange, seems like I shouldn't have to do that - isn't this thing suposed to be easy to use?

I will certainly shop around before I would ever consider getting another one of these things again.

I think I spent less time overall on my old JP1 programmable remote. :-(

C'mon Logitech, get your act together, and get this software out of Beta quality!

Indeed, switching to the 7.7 / members.harmonyremote.com software did the trick.

Now I can (have to) add Fav Channels per activity,

and it doesn't mess up ALL of my other activites like MyHarmony.com did.

Now back to re-customizing all of my buttons per device and per activity. :-(
