Harmony 880 and DirecTV HR22-100

I've downloaded new software today and can no longer get the 880 to accept the HR22-100 (HD DVR).  I managed to get soem joy when I added the device via Video - PVR - DirecTV, and then tried many models as suggested on other posts. None were automatically recognized. I then manually entered power toggle, arrow up, select and then mute.  It recognizes it as a HR20-700.

The HR22-100 responds to the 880, but I only have about 10 commands available and power on and off are on page 2. The software states that the PVR needs set up.

Oterh Devices-

Samsung TV LN-T4665F

Denon AVR1712 A/V

Panasonic DMR-EZ475

I'm upset. The 880 used to work very well until I downloaded the upgrade today to add the Denon! it seems like harmony have had problems with DirecTV for years.

Re: Harmony 880 and DirecTV HR22-100

I control 4 DirecTV HD DVR with 4 different Harmony remotes with no problems, these DirecTV models are R22-100, HR21-100, HR22-100, and HR20-100.  After you have created your Activities, and you find that you are missing commands in your Activity, select Customize Buttons and make any changes as needed.

When you add the HR, answer no when it asks if you have the original remote. There is no need to confirm any commands if your HR is already in IR mode and set to address 1. Then customize your activity buttons to arrange all the commands the way you like, as rhachey suggested.

Re: Harmony 880 and DirecTV HR22-100

Thanks for your help and advice.

I managed to get things working, but only by manually having the 880 learn many commands, such as power off and power on.

Any ideas why the software places the off and on commands on page 6 or page 8? It's a nuisance to manually move everything to Page 1.  Oh well...

Re: Harmony 880 and DirecTV HR22-100

you should be using it in an activity.  then you can map the commands to hard buttons and soft buttons.  I very rarely use the device mode so it doesn't matter much what page the commands are on.

Sony Bravia KDL32S3000 HDTV | Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K AVR | Scientific Atlanta Explorer 4250HDC HD Cable Box | Sony BDP-S380 BD | Harmony 700| Logitech Squeezbox Classic| Squeezebox Radio

For the record, all the commands are already in the database, so there was no need to learn any of them unless you're using some oddball receiver address greater than 3. Did you answer "no" when asked if you had the original remote? And you should have accepted the HR20-700 because all H and HR series boxes use exactly the same commands. But the HR20 command set in the harmony database is the most accurate and complete. Other models have errors and missing commands.

You shouldn't be using device mode at all, especially for powering on and off. If you aren't using activities, you've wasted a huge amount of money on harmony. You could have gotten a device based universal for about $10 that does everything you're using harmony for today.
