Hmmmmmmm, one of the most frustrating processes I've ever had the non pleasure to put myself through.
I bought harmony 600 yesterday, still unable to use it 24 hours later.
I have tried everything that I can think of to get this lovely software to install but everytime nothing happens after the installer starts.
I have tried safemode, changing the compatability mode of the installer package, disabled firewalls, reset my temp folders, cleared my internet explorer cache and temp files, performed weird and painful voodoo rituals in the dark, but nothing has worked.
The only real fix I have found online seems to be the 8047 check your temp file locations and set back to default, but my temp files were already at default so was no good for me.
I can't even login to my account online as it takes me back to the installer page. The only thing is I haven't tried fully on another computer. BUT I SHOULDN"T HAVE TO! ISHOULD BE ABLE TO INSTALL ON MY DESKTOP PC.
I have tried on my laptop and that seemed to go a fraction further through the installation process but still wouldn't work for some reason. I had to stop trying as my laptop has just undergone major surgery yesterday (I just put in a new motherboard) and now the battery isn't charging and it won't run on external power, so rather than muck around trying to install on that I had to switch it off before it completely died.
Any ideas? Anyone heard of another fix? How can such a simple program not install? In my 20 years on computers I can only vaguely remember having similar problems but they were years ago on windows 98 and me.......
PS I am running Windows XP 32bit version.

I'm not sure but I'm going to investigate further that it may have something to do with MS Silverlight. I have had an ongoing problem for about 12 months with silverlight trying to install on my system through microsoft updates and it keeps giving an installation error.
I have seen a couple of other posts relating to silverlight.
Let you know if this works.
As an interim measure I am going to see if I can install it on a friends computer.
Logitech if you are reading this, please amend your instructions for installation. Please change the line that says, Set aside at least 45 minutes to set up your harmony remote. I am up to approximately 300 minutes and potentially not much closer to setting it up than when I started.

Please can someone read my post and help me out.

Well I finally had a piece of luck go my way.
A solution I found to helping me with the silverlight installation "seemed" to fix my harmony software problem.
Somebody write this down for future reference becasue it might save you a lot of grief.
I apparently had a corrupted registry key relating to MSI installer.
I found the fix here:
How to fix MSI software update registration corruption issues
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971187
I clicked on the automatic "fix it for me" button to see what would happen (not much really) but bingo something was fixed in my registry and so I tried my harmony software again and IT WORKED!!!!!
Add it to the list of potential fixes for this bug. Hopefully someone with the same problem will stumble across this post.
Footnote: I'm not sure to apologise to logitech or not. The fact the installer just disappeared half way through and left me with no idea of an error code or what to do next was not very good. What if I was a complete computer novice? See you later alligator, I'm taking my bat and ball and going home, take product back to store for a full refund, lose sale of product, may never purchase another product again after a bad experience, tell my friends of bad experience, they may decide against this product also. Hmmmm....

Exactly the same lot of 'nothing' happens with in MacOS 10.7.2 (Lion) with the LogitechHarmonySoftware installer downloaded from http://files.myharmony.com/Assets/Plugins/Bundle/L
Installer runs but I cannot find anything that it has installed, anywhere. The 'free space' on my drive doesn't change either.
I'm only trying to install this after finding out that myHarmony.com doesn't let me set-up my 600 properly (device names cannot be changed, activities do not work...) and these boards indicate that the sofware has more functionality.
The device itself is great, but trying to get it programmed is a nightmare.

Hello Jonmay,
Are you using the myharmony.com or the 7.7 program?

I have the same problem. Firefox and/or Safari (Mac OS 10.7.2), just open a blank window when its time to get started configuring the remote.

I too have the same problems installing the Harmony Software 7.7.0 under Windows 7 Ultimate (even tried running as administrator).
It appears to install, asks for language and then you start to see the installation bar for a few seconds and then the window minimizes. It then just hangs and does not do anything else. It is shown as running in the task manager, yet nothing else happens.
I would like to get this running under Win7 as I am currently having to keep a computer running WinXP just so that I can continue to program my remote.
The only thing I can do is kill the program via the Task Manager.
Regards
Peter
