DirecTV replaced my old HD receiver with an H24-500. a model that can record video. So I tried to setup my Harmony 1 to  control the unit's features to both watch and record TV. The problem is, the setup steps end with this notice, "None of your devices has viseo recording capabilities."

Please give me a little help with this one.

The H24-500 is not a DVR, it cannot record video, You would need an HR2*-** to be able to record video such as an HR24-500

In case you just made a typo and really do have an HR, then just use the HR20-700 profile instead and you'll get all the recording/playback commands you need. If you really do have an H24 and want recording capability, you should exchange it ASAP.

It wasn't a typo, I just misread the model number, discovered my mistake, made the correction, but still have a problem.

I've unable to make the change from HF to IR because the HR24-500 Guide screen for changing the remote settings don't correspond to the steps prescribed by the Lofitech Remote Harmony App. As I recall, there are two steps: use the DirectTV remote to go to Settings>Remote and hold down both the Mute and Select keys until a light on the remote flashes 4 times. Then I'm supposed to type in a numeric sequence (981) until a light flashes twice.  

As soon as I complete the first step successfully, but the second doesn't work. The settings screen disappears after the first step and nothing happens when I execute the second. (I'm running the current version of it and my HR24-500 firmware,)

To change from RF to IR on your DirecTV HD DVR, on your remote, select Ment, Settings and Help, Settings, Remote Control, IR/RF Setup, then change Remote Type from RF to IR

Thanks. With your guidance I completed the mission. However, perhaps because my unit's firmwear was updated yesterday, the path I followed was:

Menu>Settings & Help>Remote Control>Advanced>IR/RT Setup>select IR.
