Remote Control Software

I have installed Harmony software in a fresh Windows installation, same computer, Win XP pro, SP3, on Rogers cable in Toronto. When I try to update, I see the messages below. The USB cable seems to be fine. I disabled my A/V and firewall (Sunbelt Vipre 4), but it didn't make any difference. Scanning in device manager, unplugging the remote, and rebooting didn't help. I have never experienced this before. Suggestions??
