WD TV Live Hub Support

Just bought one of these babies at Best Buy.

Any idea when a profile for this unit will be available for use on the Harmony 900?

Thanks.

Hello hernandito,

It's been in our system for quite some time now.

You can add it by using the following information.

Type: Computer - Media Center PC

Manufacturer: Western Digital

Model: (4 different versions exist in our database. Please add the correct one that you own)

WD TV Live

WD TV Live Plus

WD TV Live Hub

WD TV HD

Regards,

Re: WD TV Live Hub Support

I added my WD TV Live Hub to my Harmony 700 per these instructions.  Activity starts and ends fine, but no other commands are working.  Selection menu for the Live Hub displays but I can't use the Harmony to navigate.  I've tried to "Learn" the commands and tried "Raw" learning with no luck.  Please help.

Re: WD TV Live Hub Support

It took some time, but I found a long and tedious work-around that worked exceedingly well.  And the lessons learned can be applied in the future.  D.L.

Using computer and Harmony remote software:
1.  Started over by deleting the "WD TV Live Hub" device and deleting my custom generic activity, "Play from Hub".
2.  Updated remote for fresh start.
3.  Added device "WD TV Live Hub".  [Device type is Computer, Media Center PC; Manufacturer is Western Digital.  Model (number) is "WD TV Live Hub", not the actual model number as we used with the base devices.]
4.  Updated remote.
5.  In the Devices tab and under the device automatically named Media Center PC, I chose Settings, then Customize Buttons.  For each appropriate Harmony remote button I made sure that the correct command for the Live Hub was selected in the corresponding drop down menu.
6.  Updated remote.

Using entertainment center and Harmony remote:
7.  After selecting the device Live Hub on the remote, I verified all commands were functioning as expected.

Using computer:
8.  In the Activities tab window I added and setup a custom (Generic) activity "Play from Hub".  Under Activity Type, chose Utility, then Generic.  I selected the devices to turn on.  (I now have a preference for indicating that a device(s) doesn't require an Input to be set, then I later add an Action that sets the Device to a given Input using Infrared Commands.)
9.  In the Activities tab and under the activity automatically named Generic Activity, I chose Customize Buttons.  For each appropriate Harmony remote button I made sure that the correct Device (Live Hub or A/V Receiver) and correct command for that Device was selected in the corresponding drop down menus.  This is an important step in programing the Activity.  You want to ensure the correct device is controlling the sound, while the Harmony can still control navigating the Live Hub's storage possibilities.
10.  Updated remote.

Using entertainment center and Harmony remote:
11.  Verified all commands were functioning on the Harmony remote under the Custom Activity as expected.  Jumped for joy that I discovered the advanced power of the Harmony Remote software.

Optional using computer:
12.  Renamed my custom device and new activity to my preferences.

Re: Commands not loading to new activity for WD LTV Hub

I use the Harmony one and have added the WD Live TV Hub successfully under devices.  I have also reconfigured the button layout on the touch screen only.

However, when I try to add an activity there is none that is really suitable (unless adding a Watch TV that seems to dial multiple unavoidable TV commands into the activity, most of which need to be amended).  The only appropriate one seems a generic activity which takes you to a Watch Media Player option.  I select that and once I finish updating the PC software I check the commands under 'Customise Buttons' and there are no commands for any device at all, leaving me to programme the lot.

Surely this should not be the case, the WD Live players seem common enough.  Am I doing something wrong or do I have some screwed up activity or something??  None of my other devices or activities have this problem, just this one, where I either get two dozen unwanted TV commands or zilch???
