Re: Windows 7 installation hang - solved!

What have people done to try and solve this issue?

Were all security software and firewalls turned off? (windows firewall needs to be turned off for both public and private networks)

Re: Windows 7 installation hang - solved!

I ran into this fiasco, and what worked for me was running the installation in compatibility mode:

  • Right-click on the installation exe
  • Select Troubleshoot compatibility
  • Go with Try recommended settings (Windows XP SP2 for me)

Hope that helps.

Also you can save the file then right click it and select "Run as Admin" and see if that helps.

Re: Windows 7 installation hang - solved!

On my system, I had to have the installation file on the C: drive as well as setting the TMP and TEMP back to the default locations.  This is on a Win7 64-bit system.  It is still a pathetic piece of software and the support is basically non-existant.

Sorry guys but that is how it is from my point of view

Re: Windows 7 installation hang - solved!

Not solved here. I get to the screen that says: Setup Overview... which is the first screen and it hangs. I've tried all the solutions offered here. None work. I am using 64 bit machines. It's all I've got. This has been going on for TWO YEARS? I am disgusted. No user should be exposed to this sort of stupidity. A normal customer should not be expected to be a system administrator and go dig for the resolution to such a simple oversight. Your customers should not be expected to resolve YOUR programming problems. You will lose business with this model. I'm especially antagonized by the lack of constructive response from Logitech's experts here.

Re: Windows 7 installation hang - solved!

I just bought a Logitech Harmony Remote 200 and am getting the 100% hang. I have reset the TEMP and TMP environment variable to C:\Windows\Temp and have temporarily switched both firewall settings off. The hang is still there. What can I do now? If there is no solution I am going to have to return the device to the shop and get my money back.

I have since taken the remote control to another computer and there everything worked. I have no idea what differences there are between the two PCs.

BUT I have another complaint: On the packaging of the Logitech Harmony 200 Remote control there is no indication that you need an internet connection to make it work. I did not know that. In theory I might not own a computer and would have purchased a - to me - useless product.{keep it relevant}

I wish to add that I am a pensioned computer specialist (ex-IBM) and would never have allowed such software to be released on the marked and certainly not without detailed documentation of the required installation prerequisites.
