890 PRO and XP says USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED
Logi Nu
Posts: 3
I started to set up my 890 Pro and loaded the disk and the download off the website. Then I started and got this error when I plugged the 890 into the USB "USB DEVICE IS NOT RECOGNIZED"...so I followed all the HELP I found.
1. Tried every USB port while removing every other USB device...back...front...hub
2. Tried plugging in the 890 w/o the battery and this worked for a few minutes and said the "UNKNOWN" device was working properly then the "USB DEVICE IS NOT RECOGNIZED " came back.
any ideas guys? I could use the help...kinda of new to this stuff.
Also when running the setup software and the software and the 890 does not connect after awhile I click CACEL and it says in red "THE REMOTE DID NOT RESPOND TO THE REMOTE SOFTWARE"
Thanks in advance,
Scott

the driver is included in the software...uninstall and reinstall the software and see if that helps

I would download from the website, as that will be version 7.3.2, which is the most current version until next month when 7.4 is released...
version 7.0 was the last version that was shipping with the harmony 1000 I think...since you have an 890 pro, it's likely to have an older version, perhaps 5.3.2 or something like that...

I'm sorry to hear about your remote, JS44SDS. Unfortunately, the client software doesn't make a different in this case. Windows itself is not recognizing the remote. It's either the remote itself has gone bad, or your computer is having difficulty with it. You can try plugging it into a different computer if possible. If it gives the same error, give support a call.
The only remote that uses its own driver that can be reinstalled is the 1000. The rest use Windows' HID drivers.

thanks for the correction Eric...I've made a mental note of that.
is that also true in regards to the Harmony One? or will that be like the 1000 and have it's driver with the software?
