Amazon Prime Instant Video problems

I'm still new to Revue and Amazon Instant Prime videos.  For the most part things work fine and video quality is as good as can be expected for the 1.3 Mbps bitrate normally delivered.  However there are some glitches.  For example, today I was watching a movie and at 52 min in the video froze and the rebuffering dots popped up.  I waited patiently for well over a minute and finally tried seeking back a minute or two and hitting pause/play several times.  No response.  Finally I had to shut down the player and restart.  It quickly buffered up and started at the last point I had sought to.

My internet quality indicator at lower right was max (4 bars) all the time and rated as "high", and 1.3 Mbps.  I have wired internet rated at 10 Mbps and testing frequently above 20 Mbps.

I've had other little glitches similar to this on Instant prime videos.  I'm wondering, are these problems just normal for Revue and Amazon videos  or ... ?

Re: Amazon Prime Instant Video problems

Bump.....

So, does everyone else always have flawless playback of Instant Prime movies?  Am I the only one who has had to completely shut down the player and restart it in order to recover from a video freeze?

A couple of other comments:

1.   I'm having a hard time finding Instant Prime movies that I like that aren't also on Netflux, and usually with better quality.

2.  I'm using the Logitech M570 cordless mouse, which works beautifully with the Revue.  However it's of no use at all in the Netflix app --- disappointing!

I just signed up for Amazon Prime trial period the other day to have some products expedited for free.  This morning I watched Malrats using the service and it didn't freeze but that was the first and only movie from Amazon Instant so far.  There were a couple posts complaining about the movies not being HD while the TV series were.  I havn't looked into that yet.

Re: Amazon Prime Instant Video problems

I've had some that played through perfectly, a few that had minor glitches and then the one that required me to shut down the player.

I also notice the quality does not appear to be HD.     I have a TV show on my Amazon account (Walking Dead HD).    It looks much better when watch via my Roku than Revue.   My guess is it is not stream HD for some reason.

This is a well-known fact.  There is hope the Honeycomb update will allow HD on all instant-prime videos and Amazon has a notice that HD will be coming to Google TV "soon".

Has already been discussed here:

and here:

I'm still wondering (as asked in my original post) if anyone else has had a video freeze that required them to shut down the player.

Re: Amazon Prime Instant Video problems

Hi,

Yes, my videos freeze all the time as well.  I was wondering if my service provider could be blocking the streaming.

I am using Verizon Fios.

Thanks

Re: Amazon Prime Instant Video problems

1) Launch Google Chrome.

2) Press the "Menu" button on the Revue Keyboard. (This is the button located on the bottom of the revue keyboard and has 4

white lines.).

3) Select "Settings".

4) Select "Advanced Settings".

5) Select "Under the Hood".

6) Select "Adobe Flash Player storage settings..."

7) Under "Settings Manager" select "Website Storage Settings panel".

8) On the "Adobe Flash Player Settings Manager" on the right Select "Delete all sites" then select "Confirm" when prompted.

9) Under "Settings Manager" select "Global Storage Settings panel".

10) On the "Adobe Flash Player Settings Manager" on the right drag the slider to 10MB. (Try Unlimited)

11) Ensure both "Allow third-party Flash content to store data on your computer." & "Store common Flash components to reduce

download times." are selected.

Try Amazon now in a new window by clicking the menu button (Between control ALT and CTRL on the right hand side of the keyboard)

If it still does not work do the following steps.

12) Press Ctrl+Alt+Del at the same time on the keyboard to reset the Revue.

13) Once the Revue boots test websites that were giving the Flash errors.

Re: Amazon Prime Instant Video problems

I guess I should have explored this forum before I called Amazon. I just had someone there confirm to me that only the TV shows are available in HD via the Revue, movies are standard... Contacted them about "registering" my Revue, and since the instructions given didn't seem to be valid for my Revue, I was hoping to get better instructions for mine. Turns out registering isn't necessary because all the "app" does is create a shortcut to google chrome for Amazon Prime. Ok... Don't understand why it says to even register. Their instructions need to be updated b/c it is super confusing.
