Bought New Revue TODAY... HELP! Won't obtain IP Address

Okay, newbie here.  Bought the Revue w/camera bundle today.  Went through setup, connected to wireless... initiated software update, rebooted and now I'm stuck in setup and cannot obtain an IP address.  I read a couple threads here and tried the factory reset, still can't connect.  Sees the wireless signal fine, re-entered password, nada.  Tried ctrl-alt-del.  Still won't connect.  Unplugged Revue, unplugged modem/router, replugged and rebooted modem/router.  Waited until computer could connect, then turned on Revue, still won't obtain IP address.  I factory reset three times, tried adding wi-fi network, still not working....   I suspect it's directly related to the update since it worked fine if even only for a minute or two.  Help!

I can't even get into any other areas of the programs, stuck in setup.

Can you run a temporary ethernet to the Revue and try to complete setup

Yeah I'll have to try that in the morning.  Gotta figure out which cat5 in the box of 100 wires goes to the living room and crimp an end on it.  Frustrating.

Re: Bought New Revue TODAY... HELP! Won't obtain IP Address

During setup select STATIC IP address instead of DYNAMIC

Let me know if that works or if you still have problems during setup

Select your connection and change DHCP to Static.

Make sure if you try static that you retype the things in the fields as there are numbers there but they are showing a default. and not actually there. When the information is actually entered the numbers are white.

You can get your default gateway from running command prompt on your PC and typing ipconfig. You can then use the default gateway to base your IP address from.

For example my default gateway is 192.168.1.1 (yours may be different)

So I chose 192.168.2.12 for my IP as this address is not in use for another device and avoids an IP conflict.

There are others here who can instruct better on how to ensure the IP you choose is not being used and how to set your router to not accidentally assign that IP in the future.

The other 3 fields besides your IP and default gateway should be as follows:

Prefix: 24
DNS1: 8.8.8.8
DNS2: 8.8.4.4

If your problem is not being able to get internet connection because of Android 3.1, or you are still on 2.1. Post some more details of the problem.

Re: Bought New Revue TODAY... HELP! Won't obtain IP Address

Thanks for the help!  I selected wireless static, but the "connect" option won't activate.  Perhaps I need to change settings on my router?

On Revue they show as 192.168.1.128; 192.1.1; 24; 8.8.8.8; 4.4.4.4

This morning I hard wired Revue to my router. I tested the line prior to install.  I can't connect on ethernet either.  I have tried dynamic and static, but the "connect" button won't activate.  The light on the router port is lit, but not flashing.

I tried a factory reset again, no change.  I tried unplugging both router and Revue, plugging in router first, then Revue after router was working on computer, Iphone, etc.  No change.

Re: Bought New Revue TODAY... HELP! Won't obtain IP Address

Woo Hoo!  it worked!! Thanks!  I used command prompt and ipconfig to get relevant data, entered in Revue static address fields and it worked on my wired connection!  Didn't try static on wireless after going through the trouble to hardwire.

Thanks for marking as solution, I did not have time to write more specific information earlier but nice to know it helped.

Re: Bought New Revue TODAY... HELP! Won't obtain IP Address

After receiving the update to 3.1 I experienced the same problem.  I finally was able to connect to my wireless network by switching to a static ip, I move on to the next step  and it will not let me sign in with my gmail account.  I have tried using different accounts and even have tried to sign up for a new account and it still will not let me sign in.
