Feature questions:

1.  Does it support DLNA?

2.  Can I play home movies or other videos on it.  What formats and specfications does it support?

3.  Does it support an attached USB drive with music (mp3 or wma), videos and pictures?

4.  Can it access local network hard drives?

5.  Do you have a feature comparison chart with Boxee and PopBox included.

Re: FAQs, How-to Videos, Tips & Tricks Blog

I have the same questions regarding accessing content from an external usb drive, and if it is possible to do so, what formats are supported?

Thanks in advance.

Hello scanman

Here are the answers to your questions regarding the Logitech Revue.

The Logitech Revue does have an app that supports DLNA devices and will allow you to stream movies, music and pictures on your television.

For formats we do have many video formats available and can be found on the Logitech Revue support site  with the format for pictures, videos and music

3.  Does it support an attached USB drive with music (mp3 or wma), videos and pictures?
You will be able to access your movies, music and pictures using a USB mass storage device

4.  Can it access local network hard drives?
You will not be able to access Local hard drives , the only content you can access is from a DLNA NAS server

Re: FAQ, How-to Videos, Tips & Tricks Blog

Sanjay,

Thanks for the explanation.

Need clarification on your comments,

2.  Can I play home movies or other videos on it.  What formats and specfications does it support?
For formats we do have many video formats available and can be found on the Logitech Revue support site  with the format for pictures, videos and music
Logitech Support site mentions for the following formats (Video)
Videos: WMV (VC-1) (.asf .wma .wmv), WMV (VC-1) + WMA (.asf .wma .wmv), WMV + WMA (.avi), Xvid (H-264) + AAC (.avi),
Xvid (H-264) + AAC (.mp4), Xvid (H-264) + AAC (.mt2s .mt2), Xvid (MPEG4part2) + AAC (.avi), Xvid (MPEG4part2) + MP3 (.avi)

However on the Revue launch event, there was a mention of *.mkv. Is *mkv supported ?

3.  Does it support an attached USB drive with music (mp3 or wma), videos and pictures?
You will be able to access your movies, music and pictures using a USB mass storage device

Will the Revue support USB HUBs? Multiple USB Drives (HDD, etc) through a HUB to the Revue?

Also, there is a mention of supporting only USB Mass Storage Drives less than <40GBs. Most of the HDDs nowadays are at minimum 500 GB and above. Is there plan to support higher memory. How is the current limitation of FAT32 format only being addressed?

Appreciate your answer.

A rep during the release today mentioned that it could accept USB attached drives to play content.  I could be wrong, but that was noted on the CNET live blog today.

From the live blog: "falcone:  Reps are confirming that you can connect FAT16/32 USB drives: Wednesday October 6, 2010 4:10 "

Re: FAQs, How-to Videos, Tips & Tricks Blog

  • How will the Revue function without a cable/satellite set-top box?
  • Will support be added for devices similar to the SiliconeDust HD HomeRun?
  • Is there a version in the works that supports OTA or has a built in tuner/decoder?

Looks like you can use it without cable or satellite!!!

Straight from the Logitech Twitter account: http://twitter.com/#!/logitech

"If you don’t have a cable or satellite service, you can still access Internet content & use apps."

I'm cutting the cord baby!!  :smileyhappy:

Re: FAQs, How-to Videos, Tips & Tricks Blog

I'd also like to know how the Revue will function without a cable or satellite box. I don't have either. I get my tv content from an OTA antenna. Will the Revue not work with this? Will I have to switch inputs between GoogleTV (internet only) and the OTA tv signal?

Also, why the 40GB limitation on usb mass storage devices? The only such devices I have below 40GB are usb memory sticks. I have 500GB and a 2TB usb external HDs. It would be really cool if the Revue could support such HDs and if an app were developed so that it could use them to act as a DVR and another app for torrenting.
