Logitech Media Player - Some Success Getting It to Work

I spent a little while over the weekend trying to get the LMP to work better ... or at all. Basically, LMP on both of my Revues usually showed no files in any folders of the server. Sometimes, if I waited a while, I'd see some files and sometimes I could play/view them. But, most of the time it was just frustrating. So, I decided to try cleaning house so to speak. First, I shut down all the media servers on my network except the one in the Synology NAS which is the one want to use. I copied all the music files out of the music folder of the NAS so that the music folder was now empty. I went into Settings on the Revue and cleared the data for the LMP app. Then I rebooted the Revue. Then I copied the music files back to the NAS's music folder and, for good measure, I stopped and re-started the server. I waited a while for the NAS's server to index the files. Then I went to the Revue and LMP and ... ta da ... I saw the music files and could play them! I don't know which step fixed the problem, but I had tried just clearing the data for LMP before. It'll take forever to backup and restore my video files, so I'm not sure that I'll try the same thing with them. But, I will try the photos folder next. BTW ... I did divide this post into paragraphs. I don't know why the forum has decided to display it all as one paragraph. Seems fitting, though, Sigh. -- Roger
