Re: Official - Flash sites/channels/apps having trouble after Android 3.1 update

Just got a call back on my case with all of the flash sites.  Logitech is telling me that they are aware of the issues and this affects ALL devices so they are at least acknowledging a problem with the Revue and Flash.  It appears that this issue also affects the Sony TV devices as well.  From what I gather Logitech is just the hardware provider.  Google, Adobe and the website owners are the ones that are the ones mainly responsible for this issue.  I would keep the pressure up on Google, go to their facebook page for google TV and write on the wall.  Get on their community boards and start asking questions.  Eventually Google and Adobe will have to make changes.  Unfortunately they could not give me an ETA on when this issue will be resolved and I doubt it will be any time soon unless we all start to focus on Google and Adobe since it seems Logitech has heard us loud and clear but can't get any info from Google or Adobe.

I thought the Sony GTV got an Android 3.2 update with a new version of Flash?

Sadly, the issue could probably be resolved is Google didn't bastardize Chrome within GTV. Also, I'm not really sure why the code base for GTV has to differ so much from Honeycomb. It is basicaly a big tablet with UI tweaks and no touch screen.

Yeah it **bleep** we can't get a hold of Google to fix this.  You would think they would know what is going on.

Didn't see this thread, but my YouTube app only displays a pulsating blue circle when I try and watch any video. Chrome YouTube works fine. I'm updated with 3.1.

Re: Official - Flash sites/channels/apps having trouble after Android 3.1 update

I've been using the Logitech Revue as a slideshow presenter using SlideRocket.

SlideRocket shows presentations via Flash.

This is the sole purpose that I got the Revue for.

The slideshows are simple slides with basic transitions between them.

No animations, embedded videos, or other stuff.

Initially it worked pretty well. Although it sometimes crashed after a few hours of looping, that was manageable.

Sometimes, it gave an error message that said something went wrong, but it was still running in the background.

Just had to okay the message and it would run.

After the Honeycomb update, it still worked about the same.

Though, the thing with the error message yet still working never occurred.

More recently however, it began to crash much more frequently and quickly.

In the past couple of weeks, it would crash before loading the presentation.

Either it would just have the bar on the bottom that says Shockwave Player crashed.

Or the whole screen gets the error message that the webpage can't load correctly.

This makes it non-operational for me.

For the settings, I have pretty much default everything.

I've also reboot the Revue and cleared the Adobe Flash settings.

Thanks!

Re: Official - Flash sites/channels/apps having trouble after Android 3.1 update

I have been messing around with this issue for about a week now and i have had some mixed results.. I sometimes am able to fix the problem and other times no matter what i do i can't get the video to load..  heres is what i have done till now apart from what others have posted here which has not helped out at all..

I will use a  putlocker video as an example..

when i get to the video i click to play the file..

I initially get a page redirect and have to go back on the browser to get to the video source again .

When the video begins to play the audio I start clicking on the videos black screen  repeatly to maximize to full size and go back to normal size (toggle)

I scroll the webpage up and down a few times aswell.

Revert back to expanding and shrinking the video size till eventually i can see the video players buttons..

Once i can see the buttons in the bottom section of the video player with the mouse I fast forward the video  and voila I can now see a the video.

With the mouse I scroll back to the beginning of the video and im good to go till i close the browser or find another video to watch.. To me this looks like a refresh issue with the browser and not necessarily flash or shockwave.

Can someone else try this on this boxes and see if they get the same results as myself..

by the way I only started having this problem about 2 weeks ago before that i would get page crashes but never a black video.

hope this helps resolving our issue.

[ Edited ]

I hate Putlocker. It's all popups and redirect BS. On top of that IMO it will be the next site to be shut down in the government's fight against piracy. Pulocker is the same kind of BS site as Megaupload was. I did a domain search and Putlocker is located in the Bahamas with no real address or corporate contact listed. They say only to contact them by email. It figures.......

It kind of looks like the web site "Sockshare" and "Putlocker" are in some kind of cahoots.

OK according to this information Putlocker has server in the UK and is the number 331 site in the world - with almost all the traffic coming fom the USA. Interesting...

P L E A S E    C O N T A C T    S U P P O R T

If you are having trouble with this issue,  don't try to fix it by reading this blog.  It is too big and the information you need is too scattered.  That is what I tried to do at first and it just resulted in a lot of frustration.  I finally opened up an issue with support and received a list of specific things to do that was very helpful.  It strikes me that a lot of blame is being heaped on Logitec when the problem is primarily Google's.  My net of the problem is that over time, "garbage" builds up in Chrome application and things need to be reset (note: just rebooting the unit doesn't fix anything).  The problem starts out with a few Flash errors.  Then, those become more acute (probably depends on what web sites you go to).  Then, you start getting the "Awe Snap" errors, and eventually only the simplest web pages will display.  These days almost every web page you visit is full  of flash content.  Until Google gets this fixed more permanently, there are temporary fixes available that will help -- just contact the support organization directly (not through the forum).   By performing the steps they outlined I was able to get my unit functioning well again.   After a few weeks, however, I started having trouble again.  All I had to do was follow their direction and things are working again.  I believe that eventually these problems will be resolved more permanently.  In the meantime, there ARE some things you can do to get your unit running again.  The Revue is still the only settop box with this much function.  You are not going to find an alternative that can do as much.  For those of you that are willing to put up with a little (hopefully temporary) inconvenience, you may want to rethink ditching the hardware.
