Support for WIFI networks with Username and Password gone in 3.1 update???

Hi,

My campus wireless network requires a username and password to connect. I was able to do this before the 3.1 update. Now, the option to do this in the wifi settings appears to be gone. Has this been removed? ?? Why???

Thanks!

Hello whydoesntthiswo,

I am sorry for the delay in answering. Speaking with our Tier 2 agent to be sure, the Revue has never supported this type of Wifi connectivity because when you first setup the Revue it does not have access to a web broswer. You can only enter a wireless encryption key. You can speak with your Campus technical support and see if you can get this, but probably the best option for you would be to use an ethernet connection.

Hi,

But, it did work before... It had an option for username and password in the wifi settings dialog.... Not using a web browser. Is it gone now?

I unfortunately don't have ethernet available. Only wifi.

Thanks!

Re: Support for WIFI networks with Username and Password gone in 3.1 update???

Hello,

There was a password section, but not a username section. We have only supported either Open, WEP or WPA/WPA2 PSK passwords. The only thing that may look like that is the "Add Network" and it asks for a network name and type of connection.

Sometimes if it is possible and your existing computer can share its internet connection you could plug your Revue into your computer with an Ethernet cable.

Re: Support for WIFI networks with Username and Password gone in 3.1 update???

Is there a way to downgrade? I would like to go back to the old firmware. I had it working on my wifi network, but after the upgrade, I can only get it to connect through my cell phone tethering.

I am very sure there was a username and password field under the advanced settings for WPA encryption. It was not during the initial setup, but after initially setup, you could add a wifi network that required both a username and password.

Logitech does not allow customers to rollback the firmware on Logitech Revue boxes to previous software versions in order to protect the security of the product and maintain the quality of the overall user experience. With the Android 3.1 update, customers will experience more entertainment choices such as access to Android Market; faster and more comprehensive search and browse capabilities; a simplified user interface, and improvements to the Logitech Media Player.
