Re: media player - not indexing all DLNA??

I am having the same problem.  I just hooked up the Dlink DNS-320 tonight, and I go to view the files on the revue box using the logitech media player and it lets me pick the source, but it says, "indexing failed" and it will not show anything in the list.  should I look for a different media plaeyer that uses upnp?  Please let me know what I should do,  This is the main reason I bought this NAS.  I would like to stream my families media to my google tv.  hook me up please! i have 2 revues, one in my bedroom and one in my living room,  I just want to stream media from my new NAS to the google tv.  if I need to get a different NAS that works with the revue.  please let me know what model I should get, and I will go return this DNS-320 and get one that works witn the revue & google tv.  thanks!

both my servers are DLNA compliant (Buffalo NAS) and yet they dont work.

Btw, I tried to look up your Buffalo Linkstation Pro on the DLNA website.  They do have quite a few products which are DLNA certified but I couldn't find if the Link Station Pro in the list.  Is the Linkstation using a proprietary DLNA server or have they licensed TwonkyMedia or some other software like most of the other NAS out there?

they are the LS-W (LS-W2.0TGL/R1 with new drives). to be honest i dont know if they have their own DLNA, if i had to guess i would say they do their own given the tech support etc all comes from the dev site in japan.

im conemplating rebuilding my nas for better performance and if i can i will try to add in the files bit by bit (a few hundred gig at a time) to see if there is a limit somewhere that crashes it.

Re: media player - not indexing all DLNA??

Cat,

Any update yet?  I provided my information a number of weeks ago, and there still is no solution.  Thoughts?

For the person who wrote that you need to enable "large file support", where is this option located???

Thanks

Re: media player - not indexing all DLNA??

Cat
Logitech Support Specialist,

I have a Logitech revue and sony TV with Google TV both systems have the same indexing error but are able to play files.

It's not the network or my router. My network is all hard wired and consist of a 24 port gigabit with QoS for media files. My media server is a 8TB raw  synology Cube 406e, so far I have 3.6TB of movies, all mkv , avi and mp4 files. Your don't need my router information because I am not passing traffic to the internet.

I also have a western digital media player , popcorn hour a-200, a play station 3 , and an Acer Iconia A500 android tablet, all of these devices can index the synology NAS device with no errors and play movies.

At first I thought the problem might be with DLNA but all other devices work fine. then I looked at the NAS  device like everyone else did.

The problem is either with Google TV or the crappy media player clients created by Sony and Logitech

I have tried the 3rd party players with no luck but the support for Google TV is slim I am hoping to port over one from my tablet. the one built into the Acer works great.

by the way I am a senior network engineer with over 15 years of experience and 10 years of programming.

Gentlemen stop troubleshooting your networks the issue is the Logitech\Google TV.

Cat you need to escalate this to 4th\3rd level support.

Re: media player - not indexing all DLNA??

I know it's not an issue with my setup, but i'm cooperating to work with Cat to do whatever is necessary to get to the bottom of it.

my setup works with my WD TV Live Hub (streaming movies from my NAS) and my WD TV Live.  So, I know it's not my setup - it's something with the Revue or Google TV.

Re: media player - not indexing all DLNA??

As I stated above this has been escalated to our Product specialists and our engineers. Sadly until I hear back from them I do not have any more information.

Re: media player - not indexing all DLNA??

Hello,

I can also declare that it aint working for me either.

Revue-Switch-Synology Diskstation with DNLA enabled.

I get:

- "Indexing failed" you can browse files blablabla.

- Viewing pictures also works.. sometimes.. when browsing a folder with a couple of hundred photos, then suddenly the revue says something like "picture not avaliable" and starts to look for the next possilble picture to view, but it can't find any, resulting in the media player scrolling through hundreds of pictures, not showing them, before it stops.

- Playing movies mostly works. Sometimes it behaves like the pictures, but without the scrolling through files.

Works flawlessly with my other DNLA-capable players like my Sony TV.

Looking forward to a solution, otherwise the Revue has no real value to me.. :smileysad:

Thank's in advance!

Re: media player - not indexing all DLNA??

Logitech media player will not index my DLNA as well. The DLNA is the USB on the back of my Asus N16 router. Media player does see the drive and says index complete, but it does not pick up an sub-folders or files in the sub-folders. I did install ES file explorer (side loaded) and it works perfectly. It plays all of my networked MPEG4 files. For now I am using file explorer to play my media.

Hello again everyone,

My Product specialists has requested that I ask if all your NAS devices are DLNA certified (you can check by searching: http://www.dlna.org/consumer-home/look-for-dlna/product-search ) or if you are using a DLNA server program on the NAS and which program are you using?

Does it work with other DLNA clients?

What is the size?

If you are using our Logitech Media server are you using it on a Netgear ReadyNAS?
