Re: Alert 750i indoor master - record through window during the night

[ Edited ]

I think you misunderstood my last post...

No, the camera won't work if plugged into the medialink HomePlug client...no PoE there.  What I was saying was to see if using just the Medialink network adapter could see your cameras ( before any password setting was done ).

You had previously posted that the DVD worked with just the Logitech network adapter...was trying to see if your PC and printer could too ( again, before any password applied...and powering up those devices in this config to allow proper initialization ).

...basically the intent being to test the use of only one HomePlug network adapter for all HomePlug clients...HomePlug compatibility check...to avoid having to deal with both network adapters for all HomePlug clients.

I'm curious...what D-Link model are you referring to as a bridge ?

Again, sorry if I added confusion to what Cat was telling you regarding trying to run with both network adapters...I just wanted to get you to try the "one or the other" network adapter first.

Re: Alert 750i indoor master - record through window during the night

Hi,

Thanks.

No need to be sorry..  I just wish if you could visit my home and figure it out :smileywink:

Right that I misunderstood it, but just in case, here is the configuration you are saying:

- Cameras still plug in Logitech Home Plug at its locations(Power Outlets)

- But unplug Logitech Home Plug at the Bridge, but keep plugging in Mediatech Home Plug at the Bridge.

Will try this tonight if possible.

Question:  How can I disregard the password I already set..?    Just erase it, then click "Apply"..?

Yup. Understand that as having both Home Plug units on the same network seems to create conflicts..

Will keep trying!

Yeah, I think you have the idea...try everything with one HomePlug network adapter or the other.

As for the password, hopefully just unchecking the "Secure Local Camera network" & Apply would do it...but I'm not all that sure it doesn't persist in the clients...maybe Cat can clarify that.  I believe the default password used by Logitech is "HomePlugAV"...but again, Cat may need to clarify this password stuff ( something I've never used ).

So you are using that D-Link router configured as a wireless bridge ?  ...or did you just replace your old router with this new one to get more ports ( vs. adding a switch to add add'l ports to your router...which is what I thought you were trying to do from previous posts ).  ...anyway, just trying to understand how you have it all hooked up...the "bridge" is confusing me a bit.

You will want to delete the password then uncheck the box and click apply.

This should remove the password, but first make sure the cameras are still found using our network adapter.

If they are found then go on with your testing.

If they are NOT found then you need to factory reset each camera.

The default password is HomePlugAV, but it is not something you have to put it as it is programmed in as the default password.

Re: Alert 750i indoor master - record through window during the night

Thanks guys..

No, I am not using the Bridge to get wireless connection.

"Bridge" means that:

- I still have my router(This is also Medilink router) connected to Cable modem, but other than this connection,

I unplugged all the connections(PCs, Printer, Home Plugs, etc )from this, then moved all of  them to this Bridge.

- There is one connection between Bridge and rounter.

Hello Kent777,

So this is your setup?

Cable Modem--->Router (Medilink)---->Bridge/acces point (Medilink)<-----everything else

Is this correct?

Re: Alert 750i indoor master - record through window during the night

So pardon my curiosity ( again <g> ), but what value is the old router now ?  Why would you not just go from the modem to the new router ?

Re: Alert 750i indoor master - record through window during the night

Well..., that's what D Link set up manual instructs.... and I just followed it..

I do not have knowledge about this Bridge product, but I thought this product does not work as router..??? work as a device

that increase the number of connection slots..??

Re: Alert 750i indoor master - record through window during the night

Correct, except the Bridge device is from D-Link (not Media link).

Other medialink I have is the HomePlug device that is plugged into the D-Link bridge, and plugged into the Power Outlet..where my DVD, Printer get network connection..
