I chose the option "no leds" for Camera 1 and even at night there was no visible sign the cam was active.That was until the other day when 2 red lights left and right of the cam came on and remained on all night , but turned off during the day.Would re- installing the program correct this problem?

The 2 red leds you see at night are the InfraRed lamps that illuminate the area...so this is normal.  Us humans don't really see IR light, but we can see those two LEDs as dull red.  If you turn-off night vision, they will not show.

Since you have an Alert system, you'll likely see more Alert-specific info in the Alert forum...just for future reference.
