Backup and Storage

I purchased 1 outdoor master system and a add on camera, I have drop box setup so that all files are  uploaded to a server in case someone decides to break in, steal the cameras and my computer where I store the recordings. I have found however that since My PC is a "powerhouse" it has been adding considerably to my power bill (since I keep it on 24/7). I want to turn off my computer like I normally do when I’m not using it, however if I do, what’s the point of having security cameras that robbers can steal, and leave me with no footage of the perpetrators? Any ideas? I know I can access my cameras online even when my PC is off, but this is a live feed and doesn’t seem to give me the option to retrieve recordings from a server.

Re: Backup and Storage

Hello Joshuawk,

I understand your request and do infact think that being able to access your recordings readily and remotely would be a nice feature implementation. This was one of the key selling features of the Older Wilife Systems that Logitech once had which has since been retired.

Your concern has already been addressed by 30- 45% of the individuals in the New feature enhancements thread. I would request that you too address this there to ensure that you are keen and looking for a remedy. On a side note, you can also fill out a Product specific survey "think that is what the Forum Specialists called it" at http://www.logitech.com/ithink . This survey apparently gets sent to the Head office and down to the appropriate indivuals.

As far as addressing a resolution, I would recommend that you acquire a dedicated Computer/Laptop that you can chuck it out of sight somewhere and only have commander running on it. Strip off everything that you don't need, install an anti virus software and let it do its job.

I have read of numerous posts where individuals have this very setup in houses, cafe's, restaurants and it works and does not consume a lot of energy.

Robbers are crappy many a times, have you looked at some of the success video's sent in by the customer? I laugh my head off thinking how clumsy they are at times. Many times, just knowing that a camera is watching them would deter those goons away, especially the Logitech Alert Camera that you have in your Location(:smileytongue:)

Pretty sure you are already aware of it but, If you do acquire the Alert Premium Service, you can see the recordings from the Camera(s) itself. Any recordings that is captured on the Camera(s) MicroSD Card can be viewed via the Web Commander at http://alert.logitech.com. I know they have their limitations but, you can see them remotely.

Take Care
