Re: Powerline Performance

Ok - I have now spent $117 on four EMI filters and put them into the only outlets where there are other equipments connected like TV, Stereo, Aquarium and also all the electrical outlets to my PC that has the master commander software installled.  Note the Logitech Alert master Homeplug is connected to another outlet than the pc, router, etc equipment and without filter.

Results: well I can not even get a diagnostics of the "Powerline readings" anymore (note that was true just before pluggin in the filters also). It only says Powerline performance for camera 1 N/A etc etc for all six cameras.

Bandwidth test is still giving results though.

What is happening??? Feels like I am haunted in some way :smileyhappy:  please Logitech comment now!!! Should I plug the master homeplug (that goes into the router) in and out also and can I reset it also? However, this need attention now.

Re: Powerline Performance

One of the first things I learned was you can not plug into a surge protector, but I thought "THIS IS A NOISE FILTER NOT A SURGE PROTECTOR", well it is the same difference. Logitech needs its on little Light Socket. When I plugged the Logitech Camera into the Noise Protector I got the same results as you.

These Filters are for the OFFENDING APPLIANCES, not the Logitech Equipment, they aren't offending anyone. :smileyhappy:

Together we CAN figure this out. Now Does anyone know how to test for the OFFENDING APPLIANCE?

Thanks,

Re: Powerline Performance

Clarification on my filter installation; I have not plugged them into the Logitech Alert cams or other Logitech Alert device.

At the moment I have plugged them into these (4 in total):

- TV, Surround Sound system, Wii

- Dishwashing machine (even if it's new I test this for a while)

- Netgear Router, ADSL modem, Netgear NAS-server, main PC (with the Logitech alert Commander Software installed)

- Aquarium

After numerous of restarting PC, restarting router, ADSL, etc ---> still no "Powerline performance" readings after diagnostics?? Only the text N/A. Once again this N/A accured also before I plugged in the filters once when doing a diagnostic report.

Re: Powerline Performance

On the N/A, Did you switch the camera with another one to see if it wasn't a bad camera???

No I have a new twist - "Initialization not complete, please try later".

What is up with this, my computer has been on for 2 1/2 hours, how long does it take to INITIALIZE the Commander???

Can someone explain the workings of Alert Commander?

Can someone explain the workings of Alert Commander? Like when does it add a box to the Logitech Alert Recordings for the next day. It is 3:54 a.m. I look in the Logitech Alert Recordings Dirctory and No new box for the 20th.

Thanks in advance,

Re: Can someone explain the workings of Alert Commander?

@ William Patters: the N/A thing, I tested to change camera (and homeplugs) to these outlets and it does not seam to be anything wrong on the cameras regarding these bad powerline performances. The problem is now solved by doing a cable installation of a very long Cat5e Lan cable for the networking device that goes into the router. Meaning, I have tested numerous places in the house and finally after several hours finding what I belive the best central location.

The bad thing where that I needed to do this 20+ meters cable installation and one of the reasons choosing Logitechs solution was to NOT be forced to do the cable installations. But now it is done and the connectivity to the Commander is now as good as it could be. But I hope Logitechs developers look into this so the system can handle more than perfect laboratory conditions. And for the EMI filters I spent $117 is probably "money in the lake" because they did not do anything remarkable as I have seen so far but I have them plugged into the equipment I mentioned above.

For your problems with the "Initializing Commander..." do you mean when running the Diagnostics or when starting the Commander it self? I had a problem that was saying "Intializing" when running the Diagnostics but that I think where related to the problem  got when downloading the incorrect firmware that was mistakently published. That also is corrected now with some help from Logitech.

Re: Can someone explain the workings of Alert Commander?

[ Edited ]

I had a bit of a problem with the last firmware and software installation. Who do I contact at logitech to made sure i'm running the right firmware and software? Las Vegas is not the safest place to live and relying on security cameras they may or maynot be working is really crazy. Especially when you can hear someone and see bent screens on your windows. :smileysad:

Thanks,
