Network Adapter not detected

Hello,

This issue is still with Logitech Support but replies are very slow.... Hoping that someone else in the community has experienced something similar and can advise.

During initial setup I get an error message saying that Network Adapter not detected. When I hit 'Fix this' it tells me if I am using POE (power over ethernet) to skip and proceed. Tried this method, tried reloading Commander - nothing works. Stuck right here... I've tried other plugs, but ran out of options when I couldn't move router anywhere else.

Any suggestions? I really need to get this system up and running as thieves are rampant in my neighbourhood...

Re: Network Adapter not detected

Saturday March 5th will be two weeks since I've called Logitech about this problem and I must express my disappointment in their lack or urgency on this...

Support works like this:

You make a complaint and two to three days you get a reply telling you to check ONE thing...

You reply to this one instruction and you get another ONE suggestion to try two to three days later...

Thank God my life didn't depend on this! I rue the day I bought this piece of cr*p...

Re: Network Adapter not detected

Primera,  I get a Powerline Network Adaptor error everytime I try to start up.  I've only had mine a few days I never get past the screen where it asks me to keep retesting and I just hit cancel.    I am able to detect my camara and view video.  I'm not sure if it's storing data to my PC yet - not sure, and I haven't tried to remote in yet, but my system does detect camara and appears to work despite the Powerline Network Adaptor.

Like you I don't know what the issue is.  It's plugged into the wall near my router, and video seems to be passign through the network to my wireless PC.    It's furstrating when it tells you something's wrong without a clear understanding of what's not working.

Re: Network Adapter not detected

If you Network Adapter is not being detected by your Computer, its basically saying that something is blocking it from being seen by your Commander.

Try the following to fix the Problem.

1,  Unplug the Ethernet for the Logitech Network Adapter from your Router

2, Power Cycle Your Router

3, On  the Computer, Disable any Anti Virus Softwares that you might be having

4, Insert the Ethernet back into the Router

5, Try to find your Camera(s) again on the Commander.

If this is not working, Exit out of the Commander Software and Re-start the Alert Commader and try to find your Camera.

Re: Network Adapter not detected

I have always had the same sympton that the network adaptor was not being detected but then everything works fine for the first month, a little buggy but acceptable.I am using the home power wiring systme and simply plugging them into the wall. When i shut my wifi down and used an ethernet able to connect to the hub, it detected the network adaptor and worked the same.

Yesterday we had a power outage and I cannot get but 1 of my 5 cameras up. I have hit the reset with a paperclip in every camera 5 times, I have unpluged the hub, network adapter and computer and restarted them all multiple times. I am going one hour 4 of tring to see the cameras again. I have cannect the computer running the logitech Alert software directly to the hub and still no cameras but 1.

My gut tells me that the cameras have some secret ethernet number and are now blind to the network adapter, but I cannot figure out how to fix the problem.

Re: Network Adapter not detected

[ Edited ]

Kiruban, here is what I came across when helping a neighbor setup his Alert system a few weeks ago.  Router is a D-Link DIR-655 ( I've setup several Alerts with this same router before with no problem ), and PC was WiFi connected...which is where the odd behavior comes in...

During initial installation, it says it can't find the network adapter.  If you go past that step ( as you would with PoE ), it installs fine and cameras come up fine.  Since it doesn't see the HomePlug stuff, it can't detect or update the firmware.

Since the PC was too far away from the router to run an ethernet cable, I used a camera P/S ( one of my extras from PoE use ) and connected the PC via HomePlug vs. WiFi.  Once I did that, it detected the HomePlug stuff and updated the f/w.  I then put it back to WiFi connected...they didn't need/want the extra stuff <g>

So a WiFi connected PC doesn't always seem to be able to see the HomePlug stuff...though it works fine...just seems to treat it as a PoE system.  I'm not sure exactly what the underlying issue is right now...just sharing the symptom/scenario.
